Speaking of shoes... my sidi kaos neon green shoes have been looking a little tired and banged up lately. They're made out of some sort of pleather, and shiny, so I grabbed my NuFinish Scratch Doctor from the garage and gave 'em a good scrubbing and damn if they don't look almost new again!
Then I took that same stuff to my helmet, and it ALSO looks significantly better.
I don't know what's in that stuff, probably cancer, but it works great.

BOA will replace the ratchets free of charge, basically no questions asked. I replaced the upper dials on my Diadoras earlier this year. IKEA-like instructions, took about 10 minutes per shoe.

MM hmm. I go on vacation to Asia, where your bike was presumably made, and suddenly it shows up in the USA?

I just happened to go past the @jimincalif Strava profile, and holy cow, that is some consistency. Almost spot on 9 hours, every week.
I'm supposed to taper this next week, but I'm feeling really good, so I think I'm gonna stick to my typical ~14 hour load.
And I mean, forecast for low-90s all week. LOW NINETIES. That's like August Christmas, now that I have 2 kids in two different schools (one in 8th and one in 9th) with two different start times. The rest of this school year is gonna be a real pain.

what defines a real ride? I got it on the 10th, had vocal cord bulk injections on the 14th. Been forcing me to keep my Hr down since I can’t get air until everything adjusts and so on. Fun times!

What are you tapering for, have a big ride coming up? We've had some marine layer and cooler temps the last few days which has been nice, my Garmin registered 102 on my way home today, but that was sitting in the sun at a traffic light, air temp was about 87.
I must say it is a welcome relief once school schedules no longer dictate your life.

No big rides planned at all, really. But I've done 15 rides in the last 20 days-- 8 of them metric centuries, and every single one of them ending above 100º. One day I got home and it was 116º. It's not the distance, it's the constant heat.
And with the heat, I'm topping off tubeless sealant every 3 weeks. Gonna be a 2-quart year.

I apparently got a puncture last weekend on my gravel bike running tubeless. Did not know until last night when I went to pump the tires for today's ride. Back tire was down to 15, I pumped it up and then looked for evidence. I found the puncture with sealant bubbling out very slightly, so I positioned the hole at the bottom and went to bed. Tire held air overnight, no more wet sealant so I rode it today, 63 miles no problem. So it apparently had "enough", whatever that is. I think it's been 2 or 3 weeks since I added that 1/2 bottle.
Appreciate any advice. This is my first tubeless experience. I must say so far I'm a happy camper. I've had 2 punctures this year on the road bike, have to stop and change tubes of course. I've had 2 on the gravel bike and was not even aware during the ride, only after the fact, and the sealant took care of them both.

I check mine in the simplest way I can think of-- every few weeks I rotate the stem to the 6 o'clock position, let all the air out, remove the core, and stick a thin plastic rod into the stem like a dipstick. Should come back white, not just wet. Wet means all of the solids have stuck to the tire, and all that's left is a slippery fluid (the glycol, I'm guessing) which won't seal... anything, really. Dry obviously means everything is gone.
Out here, it's not uncommon to see pavement temps into the 180s. So it's no surprise the stuff dries out. I don't have to touch the sealant from like October to March.
Just two punctures in the year by August sounds amazing. I'd wrecked a rim and three tires by March.

Meanwhile, I'm kicking my oldest out the door next month to start college. No more fancy shoes or bibs for me for about 7 years.

I'll enjoy the days til it ends. She had a good first day at school. I wish I could ride to the coffee shop everyday after drop off but back to work schedule. My office is moving up back near Stone, so no more Ballast Point and Lunch loops to the beach at LaJolla and Torrey Pines.

Oh yeah, it's nice to be past this. 4 kids, one AA, 4 bachelor degrees and one DVM, non-stop from fall 2007 - spring 2017, 5 of those years had 3 overlapping. That giant sucking sound is academia's shop vac in your wallet!

Crossed 1,800 miles for the year today ... super stoked about that.
We've been absolutely hammered by rain lately (parts of the Madison area got up to a foot of rain last week) and one night here we got about 6-7 inches ... so a couple of my normal routes have parts underwater ... guess I'll have do some climbing or something ...

Speaking of das periscope. What is it with this Aria? (Sent to me by my campy-obsessed school mate)

They coulda photoshopped out the massive amount of spacers stacked on top of that stem. Geesh. Although, it appears to be a used bike for sale. So you may want it apparent the steerer hadn't been cut yet.
Still though, that stack of spacers is either looking for a pair of nuts in a panic stop/crash or someone's face if they are aero tucking and hit a bad bump.
