Those RCGs are pretty damn light. If you swap the hubs, they're 1400 or so. They do a 46mm cafe racer, and a 28mm GOAT.

Been there, done that with the college thing. Still had 3 kids in college when I put the Jackson's in my seat bag. But I have a 25 year old car! Trade offs, trade offs.

Re Road ID - we had OC Fire Authority paramedics at our club meeting a couple of weeks ago. They made it very clear they are NOT calling any 800# on Road ID tags. This is their POLICY. They actually don't even care so much about your name and emergency contact info. When they are treating you on the side of the road, this is what they need to know:

1. Your date of birth
2. Current medications
3. Any medical conditions
4. Any allergies (medical or otherwise)

The paramedics will check your pockets and your saddle bag. The hospital may or may not call Road ID later, and of course they will be contacting someone to find out about your insurance so they can get paid! But for the first responders, that's it. I made up a card with this info to carry with my ID in my pocket.

Here is a link to the write up we put on our website after this meeting. Of course responders in other jurisdictions may have different policies, but this is what we are dealing with in our area.

Do You Carry ID? ? BCI -- Bicycle Club of Irvine

That's basically what my road ID has, along with my wife's name and number. I never bought in to that 800 number nonsense.

Well the new wheels were fun to think about, but my CPA called earlier today to tell me what we owe in taxes for last year.

after being woken up in the ambulance just for my info wasn't very pleasant at all. They asked for contact name and # a few times to see if I gave consistant info, and how to get into my phone that didn't shatter upon impact. He also said that I went thru the windshield, landed on the drivers lap and the go pro I had in my pocket would have had sweet footage if mounted to the bike......

I used to carry an old ID card in my jersey pocket w/ a business card. My co worker called it morbid as if I'm going to die....though came close so she doesn't under stand.

My Road ID has two contacts, DOB, no known allergies, pick my bike off the damn road.

I have the necklace dog tags, seems easier then the ankle wrap I have as well. Doesn't mess w/ my tan lines

Like I said -- I apparently /did/ give contact info in the ambulance, but god knows how. The witnesses say I was 10' in the air before I slammed down, the APB was for an elderly cyclist hit because there was so much damage. God knows how I could talk -- at least this way there's some hope they'll call someone. This time they had to do full emergency auth to do the procedure on my face/throat that saved my life....

My road ID has my name, year of birth, wife's name and number, home number, type 2 diabetic, and the fact that I am a veteran.

Thank goodness I haven't had to have someone use the information yet.

I'm hoping my wife will get green light from her PT to ride again after wrist injury, if so we'll just take it easy in PQ Canyon. Otherwise I'll just do solo morning rides up Van Dam Peak

Resting heart rate of 49 when I woke up this morning ... Not sure I've ever been in such good cardiovascular shape, even a few years back when I was commuting three or four days a week.

I'm also going to cross 1,900 miles for the year after my ride this morning. And I hit my August goal which was more than the last month's goal.

OH ... and I did a HTFU ride yesterday ... woke up to rain, said screw it, I'm going riding ... I'm glad I did. I actually enjoy riding in the rain. I won't ride in storms obviously, but there's something about riding in the rain I do enjoy.

I will hopefully wake up early and do the club ride on Saturday. Monday, Canyon bikes in San Diego is hosting a holiday ride @7am. 50/50 chance of waking early enough for that one. Route just says 7am-12pm, A and B groups

You need to do one of these where there's an option to either ride the century or the double. You'll really appreciate the feeling of brotherhood that accompanies these rides. You start as a group of riders and you finish as a group of friends.

The Beach Cities double century has an option to ride a century. Julie will probably ride the century. Why don't you join us on September 22nd?

I've only a dozen or so times reached the 50 mile mark, and never thought hey! Let's do that again!

Its on the calendar! I just need to register.

This "finish as a group of friends" mumbo jumbo though, sounds pretty tree-huggy.

What if there were beer at the 80 mile mark?

80 seems to be the outer limit of sanity for me, personally... anything more than that has me questioning my judgment. Which I do repeatedly, so apparently I'm dim.

Since I couldn't seem to appeal to your inner "man" who thinks, "a double, why would I bother with such a short ride", I figured that appealing to your more feminine sensibilities would bring forth the desired result.
Apparently I was correct

Well, I tapped into my inner feminine sensibility and couldn't decide whether to register for teh 100 or the 200... Should I pay $45 extra just to not do more miles that day?

Decisions...
