I like the Blues. (Who doesn't? ) And one of my nicknames through the years has been Toad. I decided to use frog instead. A question here.? I used to be on a Bike Forum as Blues Frog. What happened to that forum? It was owned by an antigun "fellow" went by the name of Stormcrow or something similar. Thought this was the same forum at first??? I won't make this a political forum either. Still. Just wondering? Be Well. Bluesfrog

Mine is pretty self explanatory too. I like the old MIELE bicycles from the days of Jim Miele - not the modern stuff.

I have a number of Miele bicycles, a pair of Miele shorts, a Miele bicycling jersey and a pair of Miele bicycling shoes.

Cheers

Climbed all the 14K peaks in Colorado beginning in 1975, the more difficult ones, many times, most by their technical routes. Honestly, the roads for cycling are more dangerous to me than the backcountry! Be safe!

This is the forum you remember. The format has changed, and Tom Stormcrowe has died. I can't say what happened to the username with the space in the middle. You might be able to get it back.

My user name?

I spent most of my life in the upper Mid-West US. After I exceeded my lifetime maximum of sub-zero winters I moved to the Philippines. Due to many decades of US military presence in the country, any unidentified white guy is often called "Joe", or "Kano" (short for Americano). Since my first name actually is Joe and I'm unlikely to change the speech habits of 90 million people, I decided to go with the flow. I had to change the spelling slightly because somebody already beat me to it but I think that actually improves it a little, giving it a slightly upper crust flavor and mildly mocking the obnoxious expats who seem to be carrying the attitude that they're doing everybody a favor by dealing with the benighted locals.

Well, my real name is NOT Murray LOL. All the cool bike names were taken and I had a heavy old Murray Missile that I practically lived when I was a kid so, in a moment of nostalgic weakness........ In retrospect I kind of wish I had selected something else but, it is what it is.

In Junior High School Spanish class there were three kids named David.
I had my choice to be David Number 3 (DaVeeed Numero tres), or just pick a random name.
I picked Nacho and it stuck.

Daniel is the alternate name my father would have given me. The number 4 is supposed to be my lucky number.

This is getting interesting. Would have given you if what? Are you Chinese? Four is lucky.

My parents had agreed to name me Joshua, but after I was born, my mother changed her mind, and my father relented. It's weird because I ask myself if I could be a Joshua. I want to say yes, but I can't. I'm a Tom.

Actually....4 in Chinese is unlucky because it has the same pronunciation as the word "death".

Maybe I mis-phrased it. Daniel was the other name my Dad was considering naming me. Actually 4 is an unlucky number as was just mentioned. But 4 was determined by a method of adding all the letters of my name and you keep adding all the digits up until you end up with a single digit - we did that when we were kids from I guess a Readers Digest article or somewhere. I knew it was an unlucky number in Chinese but I just wanted to go against the flow. I also use 4 in my e-mail address but my Chinese friends never comment about that. I also shower on my birthday and special occasions. That's also supposed to be bad luck.

Going on 5 years ago now, rescued a “lab mix” puppy from the local shelter. Being a lifetime dog lover, and turning my wife into one over the years, went all in on the lab motif, to include vanity plates for my new 4Runner back then (which I traded a 370Z for, which I named dog after - “Zee”). Generally not a fan of cute language tricks (using number 4 for “for”), however it was the only way it would fit on the vanity plate. Have used it as forum handle ever since.

Have since had said “lab mix” dog DNA tested through Embark. 50% Staffordshire Terrier, 18.7% Labrador Retriever, 13.9% American Bulldog, 17.4% Supermutt (Australian Cattle Dog, Cocker Spaniel, Rottweiler). 4Runner since t-boned and totaled, so didn’t transfer vanity plate. And haven’t yet figured out how to abbreviate all that for new vanity plate!

I’d post a picture of him but not enough posts yet.
