wank-happy slaptastic flash bicycle websites [rant]

What is with bicycle manufacturers' websites these days?

It must be like some GUI designer's wet dream to work at one of those places.

I mean ok, when you want to just drool over stuff fine, but if I'm looking for info and good overviews of bikes, it's sometimes impossible because these goofy websites are too obsessed with giving me this long drawn out sexy cool flash BS, along with their own sometimes bizarre categories of bike types

I just tried to ramble through Trek's website and it's a patience-testing mess.

And why can't they at least list RSPs or some kind of price range? It's a PITA having to seperately hunt for prices just to get an idea of what I'm looking for.

Sometimes you can't link a picture because it's some java or flash shiyte, wtf. Don't they realize potential business they lose from that?

Sometimes I just want to have a good overview of the whole shiznit of bikes and info without having to sit through a pile of Flashy animatronic ***********y merde.

[/end rant]

You must have look at the same Trek Lime thing I did. Very nice, endless loops of people out riding their Limes. No components listed. No price listed.

"Fun at your speed".

"Ride at your speed™"--that's correct, this one is trademarked.

"Enjoy the ride"

"Get on and go"

"Fun and easy"

Depending on one's taste, here is some good bike porn:

It's not in lime green either.

I saw another thread about the Trek "Lime" and clicked on the link because it looked like it might be a good bike for my spouse. The blaring music and annoying people circling around the screen on their bikes was too much for and I just shut the computer off and went to the bike store. Jury is still out on the "Lime"...

"Ride at your own speed".

You have to wonder. I sometimes think they hire suits that have never ridden.
The suits hire geeks that rode when they were like 5. And the geeks crank out
this crap that drives customers away.

Umm, I forgot the marketing drones, oh well, guess we'll save that for the next rant.
