Has anyone done the Cuba Gravel Crisis?
I'm planning on riding the Cuban Gravel Crisis this fall. See: https://www.cubangravelcrisis.com Has anyone ridden this event? Does the event require a knobby tire, or is a semi-slick like the Clement USH reliable.

I haven't done this specific gravel ride, but I ride many of the ozark gravel roads as I just live 20 miles down the road from this site. I stumbled across the ride when I was doing a road ride to the community of Cuba and saw a bunch of cyclist coming out of a gravel road onto the road. It has been run now for a couple of years, and features our ozark gravel roads which are in abundance in this area for a lot of the county roads. There is nice festival put on by the community of Cuba which adds to the interest of this event. I plan on riding it this year. Gravel rides continue to gain in popularity, and this one was pretty big last year , and it will be bigger this year. I got a gravel bike to do it with this year. In regards to the tire recommendation, our gravel will include mostly hard packed limestone, but Crawford County does use some creek rock too, which has a tendency to be round and loose. I would look for some tread on your tires and run at a lower PSI to avoid sinking in the creek run areas.
Cuba, Mo is located 80 miles West of St. Louis right off of I-44 so its easy to get to.

I m going to the cuban gravel crisis and will be doing the 50 mile ride. Looks like there are about 200 or so signed up for the three distances of 20, 50, & 100 miles. Weather looks gorgeous, high of 79 with partly cloudy skies. It rained on wednesday, so dust will be down and roads should be dried up. Looks like a great day for a gravel ride in the Ozarks. Come join us !

Last year i did finish it.. Its my first century ride. For an amateur, gravel grinding in Missouri's gravel road is a very bad idea. Finished this years Landrun and gravel worlds, gravel grinding in my home state's gravel road is WAYYY more fulfilling. Though I quit the EPIC 150(formerly OGRE) and also this year's CGC, i still still say i have a very productive year. Completing 2 out of 4 races will give me a smile for winter months.

North Carolina has many races, from what Ive read. Not sure if by 'east coast' it was meant as anywhere along the coast or specifically around the Bos-Wash corridor. I would imagine one would need to go a bit further in from the coast to get lots of options for routes- like upstate/west NY, central PA, more western MD and VA, etc.
