She just played shuttle-mom for one of my kids and his friend. She is now with the friend in the ER while he gets a CAT scan.

Just brought him home from the hospital. Classic concussion but fortunately mild. Giro Switch mips probably saved his life. The helmet is toast. The jaw guard is cracked but held together. Lots of road rash (no knee pads). They spent a lot of time cleaning the wounds. I'm just grateful they didn't cheap out on the helmet. Apparently he was out cold and snoring.

Spot Mayhem 130. Was 28 lbs and some change when I bought it, now it's 27 lbs after a carbon wheel upgrade. Could probably shave another pound if I got rid of the dropper post.

The Lux Trail line went on sale for a week, but I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger, given that Pinkbike review (and a few others that corroborated it), and our previous experiences with various frame cracks.
So now I am looking at the Trek Supercaliber 9.7, and realizing it is only $50 less than the e-Caliber 9.6 (which comes with dropper post, better brakes and other components, but aluminum wheels). (Or maybe I should be content with what I currently have.)

I'm e-bike averse, so I won't ever recommend that choice - LOL. If the new bike will inspire you to ride in new ways, of be an improvement over what you currently have, go for it. For me, just riding a different bike on regular routes is a refreshing change of the experience.

If you are interested, Trek has most of the current models discounted by $1000 at the moment. A new version with slightly more travel and slacker head tube angle will be released it is rumored on August 10th, 2023.
