Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, I was raised on that stuff too. That's why I did my own maintenance, BITD.

10k service intervals are nice on a high usage vehicle. Sit in the service department's waiting room sipping coffee a couple of times a year. Done.

The only (unknown) wrong is noises, etc. going on in the rear wheel.

Otherwise, having them jam the rjones28 saddle onto seatpost, replace cables, friction plates on pedals, hopefully. I have new bar tape awaiting when they're done. Oh yes.

Ours has an “oil percentage” on the dash. It has 4K miles and still 60% oil life.

Once I take over the SportWagen, I'll keep it indefinitely. Annual mileage will slow way down.

It might even be collectable someday. A traditional wagon with a manual transmission.

Shimano 11s chains do not even come with one! Knowing/learning that, I ordered a pack of 3 connecting pins some time ago, then when it was time to order the chain, I found a seller that bundles one quick-link with the chain and decided to get that, since I’d rather have a quick-link on the road. Though LAJ’s and Mojo31’s posts about difficulties in installing gives me pause.

Naaaah, my stick legs will never break a chain anyway.

You're going to wrap the bar tape yourself?

All of my bikes, except the fat bike, have KMC chains.

The fat bike has a Sram 12 speed chain. It is directional.

If you want a job done right, you got to do it yourself.

I used to tell my Dad that, back when he criticized the job I did mowing the lawn. I thought it was funny, but Dad didn't seem especially amused.

The Boys used the same line, to me. I found it far less amusing this time.

They are not that hard. What usually happens is that I stick the pliers in, pull them apart, and one side pops off and flies across the garage floor. The floor is the same color and has texture, so I end up sweeping it and sorting thru the dirt to find it.

Exactly how long does it take to attain senior member status here? In my view, you're still a newb.

My wife and I toyed with the idea of getting an RV when COVID hit so we could do some travel a little more safely. Finally found one I like.

you'll have to sell your boat, probably some bikes and maybe a kidney to afford that. It probably costs the same as your house.

Costs about 4 times what I paid for my house. Add another $350k for the car for a total out the door of about $2 million.

if I sold everything I have except for a change of clothes, I’d probably still come up short.
