Free spirit FS-10 Restoration SS

I saved this Free spirit from the trash and decided to do a quick restoration. 3 days of restoration, cost me $30 total, looks like a new machine now. Im trying to show you how easy this can be. A quick sand and paint and you could have yourself a nice custom bike.

Frame - 54cm Free spirit FS-10
Rims - Rear: Mavic with flip flop, Front: ?
Cranks - Original 3 piece with cotter pins
Saddle - New leather
Bars - Orion riser bars
Pedals - SR SP-150
new stem

Thank you!

Not to get into a semantics argument, but that isn't a restoration.

To restore is to bring as close to original condition as possible.

Anyway, looks much better!

Nice conversion man.
Question to the OP: Did you reuse the cranks, and just sand/paint them?

Congrats on giving that thing another good life! You should put a back brake on it though

Beadblasted the cranks, And your right it's not a restoration but i restored the paint. Rides smooth but is definitely not worth doing the full restoration.
Thanks for the compliments

Cool build, but I feel like you're stretching this one a little thin. $30? No one could do what you did for $30 without having 90% of the parts you used already on hand. I think "nice custom bike" is also a little out there. I did something similar to an old Huffy 3-speed. It's an excellent beater commuter, but it's still an old heavy piece of (mostly) junk.

Not trying to rip on the build, turned out great. Just sayin...

WoW, Turd to Gold style. I probably wouldn't even have bothered with that frame, but you did it up right! How's the ride? Straight-gauge hi-ten dead-ride feel?

Cheers

The mavic rim was $20 with freewheel and tire, bars $10, grips $5. I had the front rim just lying around along with the stem, pedals, brake, and lever. I hope i have influenced some of you to start your own "restoration project" And i like that turd to gold comment!

good job! I got another F.S. Fs10 in great condition, IDK why people keep insisting they're junk, yes, they were on the cheap side, and maybe not a collector's item but as long as they are well kept and works good, they are just good!
