First C&V - Merckx MX Leader

I have been trying to track down an MX Leader in my size in decent condition for a while, so I saw this one pop up and had to pounce.

Going to have modern Campy and all black everything. 57cm c-c square.

Anyone have a catalog scan or know what years they produced this finish?

Looking forward to seeing it built. I believe I would do the exact build, all black. Not sure where your budgets at, but I have done a couple similar builds. Black Campagnolo Veloce, and black Khamsin wheels all from Ribblecycles.

Not sure specifically which groupset I will go with. I do like the look of their carbon 5-arm cranks, so I will probably try and get one of those.

As far as wheels, that's a solid recommendation. I was also considering the black Record hubs with some ceramic Mavics, as well.

What bars and stem are you going with? Threadless or are you going to look for a black quill?

Definitely quill. Probably Nitto.

These bars look sweet. Sim-Works (by Nitto) Co-Misirlou.

It's not vintage, probably early mid-2000's but it's pretty sweet.

Congratulations to finding your MXL. I am quite fond of them myself (having 4). It is difficult (at least on my screen) to see if the fork tube is threaded or not. Is it?

Here is my Motorola with first generation Super Record 11 (not having the red details that came later).

Yep, threaded.

Yours is awesome. I've got a Flite in the parts bin that is definitely going on this.

Looks like a 1997, based on serial number info here and catalog info here.
