Went 47 mi and 2200’ vertical on it yesterday, which is longish for me, and came within 0.1 mph of my best time for that route, without making anything hurt, except my medial glutes, which seemed to be reacting to a slight difference in position. The ride was comfortable and stable and the handling was fantastic. I was blinded by shadows on some descents and hit some gnarly stuff without any bobbles. I was riding 53/39:12-27, whereas this has 53/39:11-25. I didn’t climb anything steep, but didn’t miss the 27. Went out again this morning and spent some time tuning the seatpost and cleat position for the 172.5mm crank arms; I was on 170s before. All in all, it’s great.
You're probably ready for 12-23

I ordered an eTap inner rear derailleur plate from a shop in Colorado last Monday and it arrived yesterday. I rode the broken inner plate all week taped together to keep the chain from jumping off the lower jockey wheel. Worked pretty good for the most part.
Anyway, carbon/plastic probably isn't the best material to use in this application. I've ordered a spare since I figure I'll snap another at some point.
Many years ago, I had a Campy tandem group on a Santana Noventa and the inner plate was aluminum, also not a good material for an inner plate on a tandem as we pulled the threads out of the inner plate sprinting in a tandem race. Luckily, Campy also made the same derailleur with a steel alloy plate for mountain bikes - problem solved.
I think I've broken every part on a bicycle at some time, parts that others never seem to break. I should hire out for R&D work.

Good group ride today. From the start, it was slated to be an easier pace, so I felt comfortable bringing the Haanjo (Domane/Assaults still out of commission). It was pretty funny - one of the guys shows up, looks at the bike, shakes his head and says, "That just fills me with dread. Seeing the fat tires and the rack and knowing that I'm still going to be slower."

Shes’s worried (with some justification) that I’m going to lose weight with the change in our dinners, so I now have to make a show of shoveling in carbs, taking food to work, etc. She also wants me to weigh in once a week, as she does.

Haven’t had any Droste for some time, but sounds good! Since my wife started her radical diet, all the highly palatable goodies in the house have fallen to me, including quite a cache of chocolate. All the booze too.
