Very nice article.
Thanks for posting.
Question for all......
Does BF have a thread listing professional framebuilders? By country?
You know - all the smaller builders.
Trek, Specialized, Giant, etc = are not of interest to me.
But I am told 'they' make The Best bicycles in the World.

definitely more than a few familiar names in that article!
I had no idea there were that many folks building frames in the USA at that time.

BF has a fairly busy framebuilders section here https://www.bikeforums.net/framebuilders/ . A lot of good information for amateurs and a couple of pros hang out there. If you are looking for a forum geared to professional builders, check out https://www.velocipedesalon.com/forum/ . As an amateur builder myself, these are huge resources for learning.

I loved reading about Doug Haddock at Gus Betat bikes in New Orleans. I didn't know him as that was before my time but I knew of him. Gus Betat was the big and old bike shop in New Orleans. They imported campy stuff and Viners.
I worked in a competing shop in New Orleans. I remember when I put together my first racing bike, I'd peddle over to Gus Betat to pick up my campy stuff.
