So, i went and put some nicer finishing kit on my Rat (broke up an sold another bike, so i just kept the shiney bits)











There's no need for the chainstay protector, but i think i looks pretty. I've been told i'm wrong though.

Sanner Bicycles [newwaybikes.com] is a small builder of lugged steel frames in Palo Alto, Ca. Picked the completed by up from LBS on April 1, our weather has been a little uncooperative [rain, snow and wind] so I've only ridden a couple hundred km. So far a very comfortable and satisfying ride.

hey, what's up, and how is my tin donkeys brother? still liking those drops?

i have had that pump for over a year, and it has never gotten in the way where i have it mounted now, it fits between the top tube and the crankset with no problems. i wrapped the tube with electrical tape to keep it from sliding down in the bracket. handy for quick top-ups and emergency repairs.

anaheim flash - my brother from a different mother ... :-) the drops are EXCELLENT! I had to get a steerer tube extender though because they were too low. Now they are just right. here's a picture. I actually raised them another 1/2" from this picture yesterday.

A 3 speed would be great, but anything is better than the FFS it came with (which i destroyed pretty quickly).

Try it - you'll like it!

I got lucky with drops from an old steel Ross 10-speed; meaning: they were the right diamter to flip the Rapidfile shift/brake combo. I did have to replace the cables and housings too because the flip requires more cable looped up front by the bars. Also the steerer extender was a must for me. I am 6' tall with 34" legs.

Now I'm thinking about how long these Rapid fires will last and what would berequired to swap with other levers and shifters and do I have to change the brakes then. I'm thinking this setup should last the season. Hope I'm right! :-)
