Ride, Drive or Both..
How many here ride a bicycle, drive a car or both to get from A to B?
I do both but I enjoy riding more.
Imagine the days when everyone just had a horse.

I'd say 85-90 per cent of my trips are made by bike. The rest is by foot or public transit. My family owns a car, but I drive no more than a few times a year, if at all.

Took the leap, sold one car last year and dropped the insurance and selling the newer car this next week hopefully.
Too expensive to have a car that has not been driven for 6 months.
Will be car free for the first time in my adult life.

Mostly driving for me, although I'm steadily increasing my productive bike trips. Would love to commute by bike but 25 miles at 2 in the morning just isn't happening.

i'd guesstimate around 60% of our trips are by bike, 10% by foot, 10% by car, 20% by transit. there are four of us and the car we drive (have another which just sits, need to sell) is 12 years old with 40k on it or so. my personal bike mileage for the last 12 months is approx 7,000, so from a mileage standpoint it may be more like 75/25 bike and other vs car. most of the car miles are to LA and back with the family.

I've been biking to work most day for 30 years. I usually drive for everything else, although I will use the bike when possible. And for weekend adventure rides.

I'm retired and live 10 miles out of town. Almost all of my rides are for fitness and recreation. I go to town most days to volunteer at a local museum. Weather is too unpredictable to make a bike commute reasonable for me at 79.

I have 3 vehicles, a full size truck, small suv and a small awd car. I bike for fun and fitness. Use the truck for off road camping, my wife uses the suv for work and shopping etc and the small awd is to transport my 85 yoa mother around as she has difficulty getting into taller vehicles. I have done about 2400 miles so far this year on the bike and often use my truck to transport my bike to suitable places to ride.

We bike for fitness and recreation. Where we live, using a bike for anything else is not really feasible. Right now we are down to two cars, and I don't ever see a time where we will own less. We've typically had three, including a fun sports car, and have had as many as five. I enjoy driving and don't see it as an evil.

We have 1 car and 1 truck. The car is paid for and my truck is almost paid for, hopefully by the end of this year. Both are less than 3 years old. I discussed getting rid of her car, or letting my son buy it as he needs a new one as we both work from home, but my Mother In Law is getting to a point where she needs my wife's help more and more, so at this point, we need to keep both. My wife's car only has less than 4K miles on it and my truck which sees more driving but is newer, has just over 9K. Most of my bike riding is for enjoyment, but I do make a few trips to the grocery store 2 or 3 times a week.

I ride for exercise and recreation. So yeah, I still definitely drive.
I have a 16yo, 12yo, wife, and we choose to have active lives doing things that require vehicles to access
- horse at stable
- volleyball practice for both kids
- fencing practice
- coaching volleyball
- oldest is blessed to split time between 2 schools each day
- work in office here and there each week
- groceries and errands for family of 4
Yeah, vehicles allow us to live how we want.
I do ride to work more frequently now that the oldest drives. And I ride to small errands from time to time.
I may drive less in 5 or so years, but 0 desire to drive less right now.

I'm strictly a recreational rider. I live in a rural area and am 10 miles from the nearest anything. But I have endless miles of empty country roads at my doorstep so the riding is great.

I personally do not own a car so bicycle is generally the way to get around for most things. I visit a friend and their family who are about 28 miles away and they are always amazed when I biked there and I was like it didn't take that long and was a very pleasant trip.

I'm 61 my wife doesn't drive, I work maintenance that I may have to stay until something is fixed and traffic and roads between work and home aren't the best to ride . I would love to never drive . But it isn't a realistic goal

Mostly drive, though try to walk/cycle where possible.
I'm 35 miles from work, so I drive the first 30 and do the last 5 on a folding bike. I'd love to be able to cycle all 35 miles but (a) I don't have 3 hours each way to do it and (b) I'd smell too much by the time I got there.
