Cycled the 6ish miles to my club's normal meeting point this morning. The car park was mostly ice, so my friends and I decided we were going for coffee instead. The rest of my club went off, and turned around 7 miles in and headed back to HQ as the country lanes were treacherous.

got a bout a mile in, and it started to rain. I’m not sure which is more fragile, the bike or me, didn’t want to find out so I called it.

I don't usually document my routine rides here, but today was the shake down ride for the newest old bike, an '89 Schwinn LeTour. 20 miles on my local loop.

Another 43 miles today (16.6 average speed. OH MY GAWD IT WAS WINDY!!!! At one point, going all out, I was doing 12.8 MPH, passing other riders. I wonder if the indoor trainer people feel that on their rides?
Old Fart team today ha ha!

Ride with the club today, which had a turn out of 20.
Kind of a cluster****, but I took it easy & brought up the rear for parts, looking after some new club members.
45 2,600'
Last weekend, & probably tomorrow, 12 mile out & back to play table tennis. Challenging workout, & trying to get it up to ride up the tall curb & then up 3 or 4 steps to the gym.

75 miles tonight on mostly back roads out toward Mt. Hood. No snow or ice, fortunately. Don't have all my numbers because puter somehow stopped recording after 2 hours. I dunno. Raining pretty good and out on those back roads, it is just insanely dark. Glad I had all 17 of my lights. Maybe I miscounted.

Pretty decent weather again this long weekend. Decided to ride as much as I could before it's rainy and cold again. (Stock Show season here in Fort Worth, which is a magnet for our worst winter weather. Couldn't have anything to do with the seasonal timing. Nope. I'm blaming the stock show. Like blaming Wichita Falls for attracting tornadoes.)
Friday: 32 miles, usual training route, trying to decide on re-gearing my '89 Ironman. After my injury and illness in 2018 I swapped the original 52/42 chainring and 12-24 freewheel for easier gearing. Settled on 50/38 and 13-28. But now I'm back in decent shape and that gearing feels too easy.
Saturday: 90 minutes on the trainer, trying to settle on gearing and bike fit stuff. I got too enthusiastic after switching to 52/42 Biopace chainrings and have a bit of a knee twinge today. I rarely get knee problems so now I'm fussing and fretting over bike fit minutiae. Never had any problems with Biopace on my Trek 5900 with 170 cranks, but something feels off with the same chainrings on the Ironman with 172.5 cranks.
Sunday: 36 miles, usual training route. Nice sunny and cool afternoon.
Switching from casual fit winter kit to more aero stuff has helped this winter on windy days. Feels like I'm being knocked around less in crosswinds, and not slogging quite so hard into headwinds. Found a jersey and jacket with wind-resistant front material but otherwise breathable and good even in chilly weather.

Perfect bike riding weather on Saturday. Low wind, 60's and sunny. I was back in the Ocala Nat. Forest and felt pretty good so I did a few extra miles. 45 total. Sunday was rainy in the morning so no riding. Monday was cold, but still went for a nice hike in the woods for about 2 miles.
