Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Noob to This: 1x CX Commuter/Weekend Bike Advice Needed

Looking for some help after reading forum after forum and not finding complete answers. In short, I have a 2013 Giant TCX Adv SL w/canti brakes that I want to turn into a commuter/putz around the neighborhood with kids bike. I have a frame/fork, some old 10 speed wheels, and 6700 cassettes that I want to utilize to make a 1x10 flat bar bike. Looks for advice if the following setup will work (or something similar).

Have:
Frame/fork: Giant TCX Adv SL ISP frame and fork, canti, BB86
Wheelset: Giant PSL-1 wheel set, 10 speed FHB
Cassette: 6700, 11-28, 10 speed
Crank: 6800 172.5, 11 speed

Looking to get:
Chainring: Wolftooth NW 110 BCD Asymmertic 4-bolt for Shim., 38T
Read Der: Shimano SAINT RD-M820 10SP, short-cage
Shifter: Shimano SAINT SL-M820 10SP
Brake Levers: Paul Canti Lever, short pull
Brakes: TRP CX 8.4 mini-v brakes
Chainguide: K-Edge CX Chain Guide
Chain: 6701, 10 speed

Will the above setup work, most specifically the Wolftooth chainring w/ the Saint rear der? I’ve never ran a 1x system so am very green to all of this. Where I live/commute is pretty flat and I ride a decent amount of road (when I can!) so the 38 x 11-28 won't be an issue.

Thanks in advance for any help/input. Much appreciated.

Seems like a solid plan to me.
I used to run TRP mini-v's on my CX bike and while they worked with standard-pull SRAM/Shimano road levers, they were pretty mushy and I had to run the pads super close to the rims. They should work for you, but just be aware of this.

The Saint M820 is a clutched rear derailleur (I think), so I'd be surprised if you also need a chain guide, especially with a Narrow/Wide chainring. Should work fine with an 11/28 cassette.
