Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's like hitting yourself in the head with a brick - it feels great when you stop!

I have at least one fracture of the last bone of my left thumb. Seeing the hand expert on Friday. I’ll likely need a cast for 6 weeks. I’m primarily left handed. At least I got discharged yesterday evening.

No. I had an echoes of my carotid arteries and heart. All appeared normal, though I have been having PACs and PVCs. Supposed to get a mobile EEG to wear for a couple of days. Brain MRI showed no evidence of stroke.

So do they have any guesses as to what happened?

Passing out is NOT related to carotid disease as any medical student can tell you. I know most physicians check carotids with passing out but it's ******** and a pet peeve of mine.

I will stay out of your business but most likely you had a sudden drop in your BP that made you pass out, and unless you were going from sitting to standing just before you passed out, the most likely cause is a funny heart rhythm (too fast or too slow), and these often are quite intermittent.

Be safe!

Scary stuff. Hope all goes well and you hear quickly.

My brother suffers from blackouts and has experienced several minor injuries like broken nose, stitches, etc. All of his blackouts have happened so far in his home and evidently furniture and appliances are dangerous. Anyway, he's had lots of tests over the years and they can't find a cause.

I was walking on 19th & Market after eating lunch and doing the NYT crossword at my desk. I felt a wave of dizziness hit me and looked for a place to sit down. The next thing I remember I was either in the ambulance or about to be put in. I was told I had peed myself. Someone told me the person who called 911 left the scene before describing what I was doing while unconscious. I obviously fell because I fractured my thumb and have two abrasions under my left eye. My glasses, mask and hat had blood on them.

Sometimes you will never prove what happened. Once you regained consciousness if you were pretty alert, it means seizure very unlikely.
