Best Bars...
Well... Im looking for a set of bars that wont hurt my wrists... im having a problem with my wrists hurtting so bad after riding just standing up and after landing hard a few times im in such pain that i cant ride any more... i love my grips (edwins)... but id like to get a different set of bars then my stock easterns when i get a chance... what do you guys think. I just want to have a safe and comfy ride.

it all depends on what you wanna ride. whether you want a lot of upsweep or no upsweep, lots of backsweep or no backsweep, and of course bar height and width. whatever feels comfortable.

Depending on what your current bars are like, a bar w/ more sweep may help.
But really, you just need to keep riding & your wrists will get stronger & adapt.

Improve your smoothness. That's what I'm doing and it helps. I've searched the forums for the best way to bunnyhop and that helped, too. Think about bowling...without good form, you'll never be able to complete in a long tournament. Same with BMX.

The bars don't have a huge effect on the pain in your wrists. Tire pressure and grips have a much greater effect. If you're running your tires at 100psi compared to 60psi, the vibrations are going to be much greater in your wrists, hence, making them hurt.
Edwins are kind of thin and wear out quickly...check out ODI longnecks. They aren't much thicker, but they last so much longer and are just as soft, if not softer. I won't run any other grips.
If you really want new bars though, think about getting bigger ones, since stock eastern bars are pretty small. Bigger bars just make it easier to flow/spin/etc. Sunday triumphs (28 x 8) are what I run and they are great. If you don't want something that big, look around at bar geometry and see what geo fits you properly.

hey all, got a question about bars. will more rise give more leverage? on my 20forty my bars are 5.3" rise, and i can barely get the front up without yanking upwards super hard. thanks

Again, most "problems" people have riding a bike can be overcome by simply getting out there & riding more.
Finding parts that work better for you can help a little bit, but there is no magic part that'll make you a better rider.

Learn how to land better. I had this problem in the beginning with stair sets but I overcame it with better landing techniques. For new bars I'd recommend s&m slams.

Just get used to it. My wrists used to hurt from jumping 6 inches and now i can jump as high as i want without them hurting. Just dont land front wheel first.

My wrists were always in pain after I rode, I got some S&M Slams and the pain has stopped.

That's why I say it may help, depending on bar sweep. A few years ago I switched from S&M 4pc AD Bars (6 deg sweep) to T1 Smalls (12 deg sweep). There was improvement. But everyone is different & what works for me may not work for you. Also in my example I went from a stiff 4pc bar to a 2pc bar. The 2pc will absorb more of the "shock".
One thing to do is put your hands in front of you in fists, as if you were holding your bars. Just don't think about it, relax & put them out there. Take note of the angle your knuckles make.
Now go grab your handle bars, and compare the angle your knuckles make to what it was off the bars. You'll be most comfortable if it's close. So if you naturally hold your hands with the knuckles at a flat angle & have bars w/ a bit of sweep, you might want to check out something flatter & vice versa.
That's something the guys at EmpireBMX told me when I was looking at new bars & it seems to work.

haha my stock diamondback bars have tons of sweep...both up and back. theyre really comfy and i never had any problems with wrist pain...ever

Go on Dan's. I found a bunch of bars that only have a 1* upsweep and about 12* of backsweep.

Found a set of old slams on ebay for $4... some over spray but whatever... i cant afford new bars right now... have to finish the mustang and a maximum motorsport cage isnt cheap
