My old Mongoose Decade for new tricks?

Hey There-
Damn.....how freestyle has evolved since the late eighties!!

I was wondering if my old Mongoose Decade would work for the new rolling tricks. It is still dialed in fairly well. I used to ride between '87 and '90 and compete a little. A lot is fairly stock, some changes here and there. For you old school buffs, it is the Decade, not the Decade Pro, and it is the mint green one with matching handlebars.

1. How is the tube angle and weight? btw I am only 110 lbs myself.

2. What are the cheapest pegs that will work great for me? My guess is that may be the only purchase I will need (and I don't want to do that either....lol) I don't need the strongest, for I may only use them once or twice, just the cheapest fully functional ones for the new tricks. My pegs are smaller and I did use the axle pegs for the front instead of the stock ones on the forks (last trick learned was steamroller when it came out).

3. The seat post is leaned back and higher than how they are now, but not as high when I wanted to be able to hold my seat and grip at the same time. My guess is having it lower on a straight is easier?

4. Do the cranks really make a difference at this point? I know I do need to tighten them a bit. Regardless I will not spend the money at this point unless they were free, not worth it.

In any event, I am just looking to see if I can get a little exercise once and a while and very curious about the new style of rolling tricks. I remember when I got my first freestyle bike (GT Pro Performer) and riding with real riders made a difference in being able to do these tricks. I don't know any riders, but regardless if the bike isn't quite set up, it is a total uphill battle at best.

Thanks in advance!
-Marc

Check out danscomp.com for pegs. You should have 3/8 axles, so be sure that the pegs you're looking at come in that size.

If you have 1 piece cranks, they will bend under your new adult weight. Consider a new 20" complete bike.
