FS: 1981 Trek 616 SPF

I have a lot of projects going so this is offered exactly "as found." I have done nothing to it. Condition is fair. Expect lots of filth, dust, surface rust, scrapes, paint chips & the like. The TT especially is scraped up. Minor parts might be missing. Seems functionally OK. No frame dents or structural rust found. Original components except for the saddle & consumables. Assume it needs a bunch of work and will never be beautiful. But it is still a cool vintage Trek and should make a good winter project for someone.

This is the 22.5" size. It is around 56 square. For measurements and specs see the 1981 Trek brochure. Reynolds 531 main frame and Arabesque group make it a 616. Serial is N3E1C11

Compete bike as pictured: $185 + shipping

F/F/HS only: $125 + shipping REDUCED: $75 SPF

CONUS only, Paypal only please.

That's a very square deal on a very nice bike. I have a bad tendency to pick up old Treks like this when they show up on the local CL. And this one is my size,

I've received questions about the condition/scrapes. As stated in my original post, Expect lots of filth, dust, surface rust, scrapes, paint chips & the like. At this price I am not going to get into a more detailed description. For those whom surface condition is important, it would be best to pass on this.

Current tires are 27x1-1/4 and there is some room to spare. I have no idea about fenders....they are pretty much nonexistent in Idaho.

In the front you look to have enough adjustment on the brakes to do a 700c conversion. Hard to tell on the back without a close-up. All you need is about 5mm left in your brake adjustment to move the pads down... or a 4 and a file... With a 700c conversion you'd likely have lots of room for big tires (32mm) and fenders - or 38mm without fenders. 27" wheeled Treks are great for this.

Doing a 700c conversion on this would be a piece of cake. Worst case scenario is you have to file the brake caliper a bit so the shoe can drop down a bit.

But this one is a Trek, made in 'Merica! We're very helpful, us C/Vers. Tell her we all approve of the purchase.

Somehow I still have this and I want it gone. So here's a deal: Only $75 for the F/F/HS. Plus shipping and fees, naturally.

How do you explain another bike to your wife when you have 20+ bikes, 10 plus frames, and enough parts to put the frames together twice????

I just try not to vary colors from what I already have.
