Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

those were nice bikes. reasonably light and sporty, but comfortable and have braze ons for fenders and rack.
a friend of mine sniped a gorgeous red metallic one from under me on CL a while back. when i found out he got it i kept bugging him for it but he ended selling it a year later for some decent money. less than six months after it showed up on CL again with a rattle can paint job and all the braze ons and the der hanger sawed off.

fix that bike.

We have very similar frames. Mine is a few years older I think, but I will never know, as the paint was so badly deteriorated when I got it that I had to sand+spray paint it. I really need to take a picture of it sometime...

EDIT: Did you do something to that rear hub? That axle seems long. Not hating, just curious.

Haha yeah, I respaced it myself. Its the original hub!

Adapting the cranks wasn't hard because I initially bought a set of Omniums and installed the Sram press fit BB but had clearance issues with the spider and chainstays. Since I already had the BB I got these cranks with 130 BCD for clearance.

Question to all. If I wanted to run this on the track would it really make any difference that they are not true track cranks (144 BCD) Someone made a comment about me having road cranks on it.

no you'll be fine unless you race under some ridiculous sanctioning body. pretty sure there's no 144 requirement for UCI regulations on track. i might look that up though...

Thanks for the info. May have to try out that setup if a pair come up on ebay for a good price
