Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Stoked!!

Made the decision not to get the 2011 White Pista but instead to get a All City Big Block complete. I got the bike for $699.99. Seems like I am getting a lot more bang for my buck with the BB instead of the Pista. I really dig the red frame. Got my white Deep V's cleaned up for it, the thomson seatpost, specialized avatar saddle, VO 90mm stem and nitto noodles ready to go. I already have the stuff that is coming off of it sold, got 160.00 for everything. Can't wait to ride it tomorrow. Driving up to City Grounds tomorrow after getting my tooth pulled to get the bike. So my stable of bikes now consists of a Custom Steamroller buld and the Big Block.

I have had geared bikes in the past, just not my thing. My last geared bike was a Specialized Stump Jumper MTB which was converted to a single speed a year after owning it, that was about 7 years ago. Riding fixed makes me feel like a kid again on my old bmx bikes.

I was considering a road bike for a while but to get semi close to what I wanted would have taken me about $1400.00. At least now I will have two completely different fixed gear bikes. My steamroller has delgado cross rims running 35c Schwalbe Delta Cruisers at 46x19, set up with Soma Sparrow handlebars. The Big Block will be running a 25c rando up front and a 28c out back, nitto noodle drops and 46x17.
