Mezzo seatpost clamp problem ? Any ideas ?

I got a mezzo on ebay, and think/thought I got a bargain.

however, the seatpost won't stay up - I am wondering if there is something missing from the seatpost/qr clamp.

Here are some pictures. Does anyone have any suggestions ? Is something missing ?

Hope it is something simple - advice welcome.

basic question - is the seatpost of the diameter appropriate for the seat tube?

I don't know anything about Mezzos but that clamp doesn't look right. The top area should be the same diameter as the inside of the seattube.

ok, when you close the clamp, can you see the seat tube narrow down?

Hi.
you are missing a rubber shim. You can proberly make one.
the mezzo seatpost has no slippage issues.
it can crack as there is a degign fault.
good luck with getting it running.
