Should be right below seat height.
Current set up.
Changing
Love the flat bars on my Trek but whipping through traffic makes me need a little more “heads up” out there.
so I am trying out these. Need longer cables, housing and wanting white housing as well.

3rd gen fork. Many pages on the inter webs about these bikes. Seems that this version is ok to ride. I’m pretty happy to have found this bike with the aluminum fork. Coupled with the Phoenix tubed frame( I read that somewhere),the bike is light and handles great. Cheeers, Kevin.

Started the Labor Day weekend off early and took Friday off from work, so I could ironically spend the whole day working on the Superior. I'm riding the Harmon Hundred on Sept. 8 and there have been some nagging things to fix.
I started off with a wash + wax. I've got caught in rain a few times this year, so there was a bit of grunge.
I also too care of the rust chrome on the fork. Based on recommendations here, I tried the tin foil method. Worked great!
One of the dilemmas I was facing if I was going to do a century on this bike, is the single water bottle mount. I'm not crazy about bar mount bottles, so I was able to find an option that mounts to the seatpost. And it's aero! If I don't crack 6 hours, I can't blame the extra bottle.
Another annoyance, was the shifting. When I built this up a few years back, I used a spare housing that was too short. On top of that, I used a plastic ferrule which cracked. All this added up to sticky shifting, ghost shifts, and popping out of gear on climbs. Treated myself to a new cable and metal ferrule.
Not pictured, but I ended up replacing the bearings in both wheels and changed out the tires to a new set of Michelins. All in all, a good dayswork and It was a beautiful day to work outside.

Picked up a bottom bracket dynamo at the coop and decided to build a 650b bike around it. Gonna have lots of old shimano on an old 912.
i know the chain is too long and nothing is adjusted, just seeing what i have

Hey, nice Blackburn Workstand (have the same one)!
Regarding the Michelin Pro 4 tires, I have most of my miles this year on a set of Pro 4 Endurance and really like the way they ride. Great tire!

I still need to find a way to convince @gugie to let me cut to the head of the queue at the Atelier for some frame prep before the build, and I'm still waiting on a few parts to come in, but I hung what I've got on this and tried a couple sets of wheels to get a feel for the aesthetics.
At this point I'm thinking black bar tape and cables with the black rims but probably silver spokes and hubs. I'd really like to sneak in some celeste. Maybe hoods, bottle cages and cables? @RiddleOfSteel, what do you think?

Ah, they look pretty fresh in your pics. About 10-15 years ago, they were highly prized since there were hardly any good 650B tires on the market. Thankfully, that situation has improved!

They havnt been ridden but the sidewalls arent going to last long if my experience with paselas is an indicator. Not quite dry rotted but it wont be long. Some one donated those, and a pair of velocity synergy 32 hole 650b rims, seemingly unused. I built them around hubs i had and have been looking for an excuse to use them. The rear one is even offset. Gonna make a *****in set of wheels. It amazes me what people sometimes donate.

Thanks. My brain has been saying that to me pretty much every time I got through the garage. I can't wait to get this on the road.
Thanks for the guidance. I'm afraid you're right about the celeste. There just doesn't seem to be a good way to work it in. I've ordered some Vittoria Corsa G+ tires with tan walls. I was hoping that would look good here. If not, I've got plenty of bikes with black tires that I know the tans walls would help.
Yeah, that's the one thing my visual test above convinced me of. I wasn't completely sure about the bar tape, spokes, hubs, tires, etc., but I think it's pretty clear that the black rims look better.
I like the black rims with silver spokes and hubs. I also like black bar tape and cable housings. You could try celeste but I'm not feeling it. This particular green, and the cromovelato finish has depth and intrigue, and a lot of me would like that to be the focus. The polished silver will brighten things up in the supporting cast role, and the black rims will keep things/the silver in check. Tan wall tires could really finish it off well. Black tires would be fine, so long as they're not larger than 25mm--it keeps the visual mass down, especially if the rims are already black.

Mmmmmmm. Definitely not celeste. That would result in too much greenie going on there.
I'd suggest polished rims & hubs with stainless spokes and nipples- maybe TB14's for the boxed look- and white saddle, white bar tape and either white or navy cable housing. Blingie but without detracting from that glorious finish.
For the win.

Maybe. I've got a TB14 wheelset that I could use to give it a look. I'm not sure this finish would play nice with polished rims -- might be too much shine -- and the color feels a bit more modern to me, aesthetically, which is part of what made me think the black rims would suit it. Navy cable housing really could work.

Got this going today
Bit of a blast from the past .
Bought one new in the 80s
always regretted letting it go .
Bought this a couple of weeks back .
Needed a few tweaks here and there .
rear dropout horribly out of alignment and cabling all wrong
now all good apart from needing some replacement pads for the dia compe originals

Fuji Finest early 70s
I built up my early 70s (no serial no. which suggests that the bike might be from 1970-71) Fuji Finest this weekend. The pic was taken in low light. I really like the way the build came out with almost entirely Japanese parts (suntour derailleurs, superbe pro hubs, SR Apex triple crank 48/38/28, new winner freewheel 13-28, MKS pedals and toe clips, first gen dura ace brakes, nitto bar and stem) and 3 by 7 gearing. The one thing I am likely to change is the leather saddle from brown to black.
