Comments on Soma Saga
Not sure where to post this thread, so if it needs to be moved, please do so. Not classic or vintage. I looked at this Soma Saga today and really liked the set up and the color, very good condition. Looks like something I’d build for myself; steel frame, stout rims, wide tires, and proven comfortable geometry. The asking price reflects the curated nature. You can do just about anything on a bike like that except win races. Well, unless maybe if the race was across the state or country. I don’t know anything about your local market, but around my neck of the woods a bike like that would sell fast.

My main commuter bike is the disc version of the Saga. For the price, that is a great deal, assuming in good working order (and it looks clean, so that's always a good sign). Nice relaxed geometry and a smooth steel feel to it.

If it's the style of bike you want and it fits, it's a great deal. You wouldnt be able to build anything for that price of that quality.

Firm but gentle
I had 56 cm Saga Frameset just like that with a little bit nicer parts. It is a very good deal at that price if it fits you. I’m sure you are aware it excels at loaded touring, there is nothing wrong with general riding and commuting on one - I did my share of that- but it is quite overbuilt for “normal” riding. I liked the double eyelets front and rear for racks and fenders.

Nice bike! Lovely color. Great price. I own a Soma Smoothie, and I'm a big fan of the brand. I'd change to bar-end shifters.

Great deal, money wise. Make sure you are okay with downtube shifters. Adding STI (brifters) will cost you a couple hundred bucks unless you get used ones and do it yourself. I have a Soma Grand Randonneur and it is a well-made frame that rides very nicely, so I can vouch for the brand.
