direct mount vs standard mount rear derailleur

I have a Recored 12 speed derailleur that can be used DM or SM rear derailleurs. I assume I need the standard mount with my steel frame with built in hanger (Colnago Master updated frame). Or does it need the DM or do I have a choice?

Thanks

As you noted the Record 12 speed rear der. can be used as direct mount or standard mount. Frames with a der hanger built in are standard mount and the 12 speed Record der will mount to that frame without trouble.
