I find the way the split "upper tube" is done on this bike interesting. BTW, is there a term for that as used on a mixte? And would this be considered a mixte still or fall into the "ladies bike" category.

Yes, sort of. Most bikes I see termed mixte have the "TT" running in a straight line vs the curve in this bike. The mixte I have always seen as sort of a unisex bike where the treatment of this frame is more like a ladies bike to me. Is it the split of the "TT" that makes it a mixte?

If it had the paint of the LeJeune posted by BianchiGirl (yesterday, I think) it would definately by a girl's type bike.
I'd just call it a mixte for females, or if flipping it "rare, unique, one-of-a-kind, & collectibly valuable".

In America, the general public consider Mixte bikes to be women's bikes.

Mixte with a deepened step-through? The classic French mixte / unisex frame -- e.g., Peugeot UO-18 -- has straight twin top tubes.

A very nice, fully equipped mixte. A period Bertin catalogue that I have describes that style as a "berceau" or cradle frame but it's really a variety of mixte. The traditional style with a tube parallel to the downtube is described as a "Dame Anglais".

Three stays on each side make it a mixte. according to the late Sheldon Brown. It doesn't even matter if it has a single top tube like a Betty Foy.

IMO- this doesn't meet the classic definition of a Mixte, or Unisex frame. The (split) top tube is definitely lowered to open the diamond, and despite being a split tube design it more closely matches a classic ladies frame with standard seat stays, than a typical mixte frame which lacks them.
However, I'm not a museum curator and don't get worked up over semantics or classifications. It is what it is. If you want to classify it a mixte based on the split tube design feel free to do so, or if you prefer to classify it as a ladies frame based on the overall lines, that's equally OK.
