I married young, which assuages the joys of getting old somewhat. My wife got her driver's license the same year I got my law license.

An observation: When becoming angry, a person instantly loses IQ points. This explains why some resort to fist fights or the use of firearms for relatively minor altercations. Therefore if on your bike, smile a lot.

only thing I really remember from senior year was this kid puking in AP English because he was so hammered on senior day and one of the gym coaches saying to me at graduation that I’d been an ******* for four years and could I not be for one day.

Don't know if I'd mentioned this, but the lefthand crankarm on Mrs. Peel wouldn't come off. Stripped the threads right out with the puller - and it was a Park puller, not a cheapo knockoff. Like everyone does, I tried a bunch of things that didn't work, then relaxed, searched BF and elsewhere and got me some chuck wedges. I read, 'tap them alternately and the arm will just pop off', which didn't seem likely given how stuck it was.
But I did it anyway. And damned if it didn't suddenly pop off, right about the time I started to think it was never going to work!

The Tuesday night ride started last night for me. They started a couple weeks ago. It was good. I hung in without any trouble and was even there in the finish sprint for most of it. We matched our times from the end of last year with ease.
It's going to be a good year....

That is EXACTLY what I thought when I first read that on one of the many "The crank arm threads are stripped! What now?" threads on BF!
They're a pair of thin steel wedges with U shapes cut into them. The 'U' allows them to go around the BB spindle. you stick them between the BB and the recalcitrant crank, on opposite sides, overlapping in the middle. Then you hit them with a hammer on one side, then the other, forcing them together and forcing the crank off the taper - *tap,tap*... *tap,tap*...*tap,tap*...*tap,tap*, followed by the sudden *CLANG!!* of the newly freed crank, and the wedges, hitting the floor.

Prior to acquiring the Circuit, I had always had my LBS do that, but once I started watching vintage bike restoration videos, I realized it's something I could do. Also something I could screw up, although to be fair, 3 of the 4 crank arms I've taken off, the puller worked like a charm. I suspect the threads might already have been damaged, and/or the damn thing was on too tight before.
The advantage of chuck wedges over the "Pickle Fork" (ball joint separator) is that because the wedges come in pairs, they're not prying the arm off from one side, but rather just forcing the arm off with a flat surface.

Just got invited to another climbing ride this Saturday. This one is only 51 miles with 7000 feet heavily front loaded. I know I can handle this one, the other one gives me self-doubt, even though I've done it before.
There is also a mtb ride I heard about.
