We had a good ride. But before we started, the ride leader noticed a big crack in his drive-side seat stay just above the dropout. Crack was circumferential and all the way through the crabon fiber. Sad! He drove home and met us halfway. Sadly, he had the SAME problem last year and the framebuilder “fixed” it.
The Bike is really beautiful and made by a us builder whose nane is a number that roughly equals the bike cost in thousands.
I feel bad for my friend but he should have bought a full Ti frame.

Actually his bike is hybrid Ti/Crabon and although I am not a structural engineer I suspect the shear forces are strongest at/near the interface where they join. That’s where the frame failed twice. So I suspect your fancy new fully plastic, er, crabon fiber bike won’t be as vulnerable.

Thanks! Rarified air, for sure. Rarified power, as well. That's the Mount Evans Hill Climb, which starts in Idaho Springs, and ends at 14,120. 6500 feet of climbing in 27 miles.

You would love it, other than the descent. Heck, even the frost heaves mess with the climb. I was coming down and saw some dude go over his bars as he was racing up. Thinking Weds Thurs Fri??? I stopped to see if he was OK, help him untangle and stuff... Took a lot for me to get his front wheel out of the crack in the road that stopped him immediately.

In June I posted that I set a PR on my 25 mile ride down in GA that I use to get ready for my ~annual 30 mile ride up North. I beat it by about 20 seconds. Today I beat that by 41 seconds. So over last years previous best I am a minute faster. I have a chance to match my time I have been chasing for 9 years.
If you are lucky, I will post a confusing chart detailing seconds over or under my previous best for each 5 mile segment. If only Vol where alive to enjoy it.
