I bought the Vitus...

I think its an 87, it needs cleaned up a bit, its dirty around the hubs and headset, needs new bar tape but I like it and I think I did good. Another plus is that it is exactly my size.

Everything is DuraAce 7400? 7 speed DT shifters, derailleurs, brake calipers, brake levers, headset, crankset and even the seat post is DuraAce. The stem and bars are Cinelli, not sure what model but its nice.

The wheels are Mavic MA-40 laced to DuraAce hubs and are as true and straight as can be.
He was asking $200 but I was able to talk him down to $150 because the paint is so-so and the Vitus decal on the TT is gone. I weighed the bike on my fish scale and it weighs 18.6 pounds.

If my luck continues, I will pick up a 1986 Panasonic DX5000. That owner says its been in his basement for the past 20 years. He wants $200 for it as well.

If you get the DX for $150 stop and buy a lottery ticket too.

I hope I do. I think the DX frame is nicer and it has the cool purple/white 80's paint thing going on.

Actually the whole DX Panasonic series were really nice bikes and it does not get any better than the cooooool purple and white 5000!
(Buy it even if you have to pay 50 bucks more - you won't regret it.)

Great score!
It looks to be one of the more unusual white ones. Lots were either silver, red, rose or blue. Vitus 979 decals are easy to find if you want to refresh it. I does look like it's all DA7400. One good thig too is it looks like you ride smallish frames, so that counteracts some of the whippiness the frame might have if it was something approaching 60cm and bigger. It will be fun to tear it down, clean and tune it up for the road.
Have fun with your new "French mistress"

You will love that Vitus. I certainly did like mine although it was a bit too flexible for a guy of my weight...
