Yes. Saturday's 'normal' route goes from Elk Rapids through Bellaire, East Jordan and Boyne City, then on to Petosky. BC is mile 58. So yeah when I do Ballad of Jayne, it's always with 50+ miles of hills on my legs already. The flat road is appreciated! Not sure if I'll be doing that this year on Saturday (11:30-ish) or going with the group on the WIMPY route to Charlevoix instead.

I can ride a consistent 17mph for four hours or so. I'm 62 now. Back when I was 50 I was over 20. Back when I was a youngster ....

I was just looking at time trial results and the top three were over 27 mph average! Wow and I thought I might be able to compete in a year. I could barely keep up with the guy who came in 13th place when I was 20 years younger.

I always take the Advance route. I rode The Wall for 17-18 years, and I never had to walk it; but the other way is just so much more pleasant. Wildwood is long and slow but I've got the low gears for it. I like the downhill payback.

The rolling hills on that route make it one of my favorites. I wish you the best this year, that tour will be here before we know it.

I have failed to be under 21 myself many times now that I'm 51. It doesn't matter, I don't drink and there is precious little karaoke.

First off, I'm a retired senior citizen and want nothing to do with AARP so I wish they'd stop sending me stuff.
I ride an EZ Sport long wheel based recumbent and for me it's all about comfort. My bike is to get me where I want to go and back again and although I enjoy my ride I seldom ride it just to ride it. So how far I ride in any week varies from week to week depending on where I am going. No point in my city is more than 7 miles from where I live so I pretty much never ride more than maybe 15 miles in any given day. But if I had to throw a number out I would say maybe 50 miles a week and since I have no car I ride in the winter here in Wisconsin. I also use a cargo trailer and so some of those miles in a week could be pulling loads of up to 250 pounds.

That is a hard ride. The second long pass climb is always hot and upwind. Best I've done on it was 16.7 average when I was 63. I was strong that year. And good for him for finishing it. He could have bailed, but I'd told him that for sure he'd be able to do the big event ride that's this week if he could finish that training ride. Nothing like having a goal!

80-120 mikes a week and anywhere from 18-22 mph on the road depending on terrain. At 65 now I just ride to ride and for enjoyment and exercise.

I'm 60 and I ride 125 miles a week, looking to increase that a little but thats a fair avg. On a 26" Mt bike with 2" tires about 12mph just riding for exercise on a roadbike 14-16 depending on wind and hills. I like to time trial and have a flat 6 mile course laid out just to gauge my fitness and its a cycle path that sees very little use.

Tonight's ride was fast enough to be enjoyable. 27 miles, 470 vertical feet, or 17 ft/mile. The group averaged 21.6 mph, and being the guy on a bent I had to stay out of the paceline so I didn't disrupt the group. So I rode off the back most of the time, getting gapped when they surged and getting a little draft when they slowed and I caught up. Ironically, the most common place for me to bunch up with them was when they slowed for a climb. I won the final sprint by averaging 28+ mph over the last mile.

I ride about 23-25 miles per ride, don't really have a weekly average. Average mph is 12-15 mph.

I'm still working (overworked), so that makes me primarily a weekend warrior. So, I ride 1 to 3 hours at a time averaging 10 to 14 mph depending on plenty of variables like how tired I am from work, which bike I choose, how my legs are responding, the wind and the weather, which route I choose to ride, etc. I used to be obsessed with all the numbers, but I reminded myself I'm doing this primarily for the fun of it.

I belong to two local clubs, and looking at some of the strongest, fastest (race, team training rides, 7k/year) riders,
see only one with average speed over 16mph. This is Strava miles this year/ hours this year.
Pretty hilly area, but still, makes me wonder what kind of average speed some folks are talking about.
On the BF Strava club, the folks with 17mph & up either have podium pics, or pancake riding.
I was at 15.25mph last year, but sadly 14.84mph so far this year.
