Well now Wildwood, If you would like, you may borrow my '72 track bike to do just that! I had a 1969 Serial # H829 that my good friend in Chicago wanted. So I let him have it, and bought the '72. They were good track bikes for the time and I would still be riding mine if track were in my wheelhouse now. At close to 70 I doubt that I will be able to even look like I could compete with others my age. But Indy is only an hour away so who knows? The '72 is hanging just ten feet away as type. BTW, as I see it the cable routing in the original pic is the best way to keep from cable damage and best for operating efficiency. JMHO, MH

None of the pics on the scan in post # 1 can possibly be reversed, if you look close enough.

The front hub photo might well be reversed, but if it isn't, then that QR lever is in the OPEN position, and just screwed/twisted tight.

As this is a pre-cpsc vintage lever, it is not curved and so even a "close" inspection would not seem to reveal any distinction between being OPEN or this being a mirror-image photo.

I don't think the spoke lacing would look right if it were reversed. But maybe that's just my old eyes.....

It's possible the image is not reversed, but if that's the case then the QR cam is in the OPEN position. Which is more "cringe"? Hard to say; either is pretty frikken embarrassing.

Maybe it was reversed just to show the use of a quick release?

I believe that to be the case; flipped image. I suspect the reason is that it is less jarring to the eye sweeping left-to-right if the shown pic is in the lineup instead of the "correct" pic in the same position. Check for yourself and imagine the correct photo in the same place.

That must be why I go to warehouse sales at the co-op and not bike shows, I come here for the people and the cool old steel, the rigid nitpicking not so much..

Way back I seriously considered a Paramount track bike as my first serious bike. They were a deal.

Sorry, those appear to be all late '70s or '80s wheels, and none of the fronts have the Schwinn-appropriate retention parts.

Actually, there's no shortage of rigid (and suspension) nit-picking at our co-op.

Look at T-Mar's tag line. I hope that's it. Though less important than with road bikes. I also think it would be compositionally weird for a track bike on a pitched track to be shown from the DS, unless going in the "wrong" direction. Then, you could always flip the negative....

Later in life, many who had deep chests due to large VO2 Max, end up looking "barrel chested" on bikes, even when not carrying extra pounds.

Hey Wildwood ! I own a few robes and two Paramounts--- but I'm not a judge!

I'm digging the huge clear plastic pie-plate spoke protector along with the wheel reflectors USAZorro already mentioned!

Wait, we DO go to the same bike shows.

My "introduction" was at B.A.M.F. Dale Brown actually put all the Paramounts in the same corner of the banquet room. If you actually stopped walking through that section, some Paramoundrian would start pointing out all the flaws on all the Paramounts except his own. I think Dale put a big magnet there, so they all gathered in the corner and couldn't escape and bother the rest of the people. But, if some hapless soul ventured in there...OMG. Once I got out of there, I just wanted a shower..
I remember that BAMF.

Smart move by Dale. In case the crowd got too ugly I could have rolled this in there so there could be a united group hatred towards something else. Nothing like a common enemy to bring people together!

That is sad to hear. My first bike was an Apple Krate, and I have thought more than once about one day spending some serious coin on a good-to-very-good condition original (not one of the late-90s re-pops). Oh, well, I'd just keep it indoors where I could look at it and enjoy it for the memories it would produce. Wouldn't have to worry about the jerks

By no means is that comment representative of everyone in the community, but there's something about these bikes that has resulted in their over-representation by self-absorbed know-it-alls.

The only decent bicycle show down here is heavily musclebike focused, thus drawing these type of people like flies to a garbage heap. I gave up on it years ago.
