Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Clever Training seems to have a 25% off sale for all Cycliq gear, in case Cycliq’s won 30% sale is over.

Woof. TheProsCloset has a set of New/Blem tubeless Reynold's AR58/62 DB (disc brake) for $599. The set has an SRAM XDR 11/12 speed hub body - I assume that you can change that out to a Shimano, which would run an additional 100 bucks or so (before buying, please confirm and don't blame me if you don't).

Got the R3 today. Didn’t get it put together until after dark, so just a spin around the block but man what a sweet bike. I’ll be taking it in to my trusty wrench tomorrow to get it tweaked in for this weekend. Brakes, DI2 shifting tweak, make sure everything it properly tightened down as I seemed to have lost my torque wrench, etc.

The Flo wheels feel nice and fast from what I could tell. I’ll be putting the Novatec R3 wheels that come stock on the Cervelo on my Tarmac.

Also my first go around with Speedplays and I got the ultra light because I always set my SPD-SL pedals to as light of a release as possible. Seem okay so far, but maybe too easy to clip out of.

Edit: Added a proper Bike Forums photo

It was dark out so I couldn’t get proper photos shot, but will over the next few days as I’m working from home.
Love the color.

I took delivery of the SPD-SL cleats mentioned above, and quoted below, and liked them enough to order 5 more pairs at 17USD including shipping at about 3USD a pair of cleats.

They are not perfect. Their greatest problem is that they are made of one piece of very hard plastic that slips, especially on indoor floors. On tarmac however, they seem okay.I may get some sort of shoe gloo to put on the parts that touch the ground. I may die when I slip wearing these cleats. But I have been waiting for cleats that are reasonably priced and these are.

Or conversely I now feel a little less upset with Shimano cleats which being made from two types of plastic have adequate grip and last a long time. I also realise why the cheap Chinese two colour cleats have two colours. It is not just that they are mimicking Shimano, but they too are providing a tread that does not slip bonded (though less successfully) to a hard plastic cleat.

Shimano cleats are great but expensive.
The Chinese Tiebao ones that imitate Shimanos are five times cheaper but only last about a 5th of the time because the coloured bits break off (and don't even mean anything - they all have 6 degress of float).
Exustar SPD-SLs are about as good as Shimano, made of one piece of plastic (the bits that are coloured are painted black) and a bit cheaper.

These look promising because they are one piece cleats and almost as cheap as the the other Chinese ones, and they come in a variety of colours. I ordered orange.

32mm GP5000 clinchers, $53/pair. I've been thinking about bumping up from my 28's to 32's, this convinced me.

That's such an odd size for a fast and light clincher...

they'll fit the Pake just fine, though I already have a set of 35s I'm happy with.

Nope, these will be on my road bike, should measure out to around 33-34mm on my wheels and be very comfy. I'm interested to see if there's any loss in speed, since I noticed no difference in speed going from 25's to 28's (that measure at 30mm), if anything I can go faster on the 28's because they're more comfortable on our crappy roads. lol

Have you received them yet?

I pulled the trigger as well... and only one tire arrived. Currently have an email to Outland USA asking if it was a mistake or an incorrect listing on Amazon.

Ouch. I'd be interested in seeing how this turns out. The current price is now at $79.95 for 2.

at the very least, the seller should credit back the $14 if $54 was spent on one tire.

https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/e...pinkvisibility - this looks like a helmet that's top-rated by Virginia Tech for $50. Only one color and one size (Large), but it looks like the women's L is the same size as the men's L. In the 1950s, charcoal gray suits with pink shirts were de rigeur for the Brooks Brothers Madison Avenue crowd.

Same, I ordered two sets, and only received one set. I contacted Outland and they are sending another set. Looks like they had the listing wrong since they've now updated it. No way I would have paid $55/tire when you can get them for $35/tire from most of the UK distributors.

I've contacted them via Amazon and email... no responses. Just initiated the return process. This is what I get for making an impulse purchase!

Light pink shirts are certainly still a staple of my normal work wardrobe (which is currently composed entirely of t-shirts and sweatpants...)

Garmin has the Edge 520+ for $200. They seriously dropped the prices on several other models. I'm sure there's something new coming down the road soon.

Last spring Garmin released the 530, so that might have something to do with it.

Seems like a pretty good deal on an older tire. Competitive Cyclist has the Vittoria Rubino Pro 3 for $18.89

Here's a valid link ...

https://www.competitivecyclist.com/v...ino-pro-3-tire

CRC also has them for the same price ...
https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...e/rp-prod31765

A while back CRC had these in 700x25 for $25 a pair. I stocked up. Great tire, IMO.
