It will probably go lower, too. That's not original paint I don't think - Colnago didn't put a second set of bottle bosses on these until the early 80s and he identifies this as a '76.

Probably a repaint then. I have a 72 Condor that the previous owner bought while he was living in England. In the mid 80s, he sent it back to Condor to have some bosses added and the rear spread. They also repainted it before sending it back.

I recall the first time I saw one of these - made me think about getting a modern bike for about 30 seconds. This example looks in super shape, and $650 with $95 shipping doesn't sound outrageous. Then again, I have no clue about modern bike values. Oh, and the new owner will have to address the ugly in the cockpit, of course.

Anyway:

Custom Peugeot With Columbus SLX?

Vintage Racing Bike 61 cm Columbus SLX Steel MAVIC groupset - $200 (Carrboro)

Posted 2020-01-31 13:43

"This 1980's racing bike with MAVIC groupset and Columbus SLX frame has been a joy to ride for years. The paint shows signs of wear, but the bike is structurally sound. This bike was custom made in the Peugot factory in St. Etienne, France. The Columbus SLX lugged steel frame was the best production frame of its time, and the bike is complete with all original components, including the original Mavic hubs, front and rear deraileurs and brakes. The brake levers have been swapped for a more comfortable shimano levers and the original saddle was replaced with a racing saddle from Fizik. Original rims were tubular, and wheels were rebuilt by Back Alley Bikes in Carrboro using clincher Mavic OpenPro rims with the original hubs.

Known issues: broken spring in front brake, chain and freewheel cassette need to be replaced.

bicycle frame material: steel

bicycle type: road
frame size: 61 cm
wheel size: 700C"

No clue what this one is, but the price is right for someone, that Mavic group is nice, and if it includes the unobtanium seat post (I can't tell, can't find my glasses) some people would pay half the ask for that part alone...

1994 Trek 970 - $150 - Poulsbo, Washington

A bit rough, but this was Trek's flagship hardtail back in the early to mid-1990s.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/b...065042439.html

Old school Trek 970. Nice bike back in the day, still a good bike today for scooting around on.
Good components, dont know exact size. I am 5'10" and it's a bit on the small size. 5'3-5'8 would be a decent size.

$150 OBO

"This was 1 model behind the PX-10 in the catalog, therefore I shall strip all of the most expensive parts off it and sell it to you for the high-end of what you'd pay for a PX-10 frame & fork in the same condition!"

It's in great shape and all, no doubt, but that's basically what they've done and it's not much of a deal. New crankset will set you back $75 in shape as good as the frame. Expect to drop no less than $90 on suitable Criterium or SLJ derailleurs and levers (or Campy NR if you wanted to go that route). At least $40 on the seat post. At least $60 on the Mafac brake set and levers, probably w/o the half-hoods. Good luck finding a Normandy hubbed wheelset, there's another $100 at least. Now add in consumables and pedals and seat and ... now you're in it for over $500. Just go buy a PX-10 for $250-350. I just got one in my size and fairly original for $225.

Doesn't look like the Mavic post to me, more like a Kalloy. Nevertheless, if someone local to this wanted to pick it up I would gladly reimburse the great majority of the purchase price for the remaining Mavic components.
