Giant Yukon 2 Fat Bike

I've had my Giant Yukon 2 since December of last year. I wanted an extra winter bike and thought it would be my main ride for winter. Well winter is long gone and I still keep pulling the fat bike out when I want to play in my backyard. Although I do let friends use it when they want to join me for a ride, because I feel it's a great bike to introduce them to trail riding. It's getting harder and harder for me to go out on the road bikes, because I just have to much fun out in the woods with the fat bike. So today it was off for a tad over two hours of fun playing on a few single track trails.

That's how I felt. The first time I rode my fat bike, I had a big grin on my face.

It's such a fun bike and turned out to be an all year round bike for me.

I have a Yukon 2 also. Added a dropper post and upgraded some other minor components and love it. My only issue is that I like going fast, and I can’t get this thing to top out over 22-23 mph. Granted, I mainly ride trails and gravel, but I can’t get over the resistance caused by the giant tires and weight. I bet I’ll have fun this winter though.

I'm in my 60s as well and picked up my first fat bike on January 3rd of this year. I've never been one who's enjoyed winter much, but this bike was a game changer! For the first time in decades I was actually a bit sad to see the snow disappear. I even talked my wife into purchasing one. I didn't get a Yukon, but at the time of purchase all I cared about was finding a fattie in the right size:

Don't let it be just a snow bike. I have great fun bush whacking, swamps and places where you would not normally go with a bike.

Very true! While I initially purchased the bike to continue riding over the winter months, I certainly plan on discovering all of the aspects that this bike can provide during the warmer months, too. It's just too much fun to ride!

I've found my fat bike to be exceptional for this novice on beginner-to-moderate level single track. We have a lot of stream crossings and such at our local trails and the mud and muck...this bike just plows right through it like it's not there. I describe traction uphill as "tractor like." It feels like there's no terrain this bike can't easily tame and it's been fun for me getting to know it since I got it last fall. I have a road hybrid with 38mm tires that's quite fun to ride on the road and paved trails, a hardtail MTB with 27.5x2.2" tires that works nicely as a general use dirt/gravel/two-track bike, and then the fattie with 4" tires (which are small compared to many modern fatties) will plow through anything.

Bikes. Is. Fun.

I also was thinking of winter riding when I bought my fat bike, but my poor old mountain bike sits lonely in the garage 'cause the fat is so fun year 'round. My skis are a little sad, too.
