Having more pixels in the same area doesn't mean anything is smaller or harder to read unless you use the same # of pixels as before to display something - shrinking it. What everyone wants is more pixels being used to display the same thing at the same size. That means more detail in the maps, and crisper text. Easier to read.

But Garmin doesn't do that.
Most things don't scale stuff. It seems like scaling stuff takes CPU power (which is something the Garmin's don't really have much of).

My Fenix 6 has more pixels than my Fenix 5 did. Same physical size for the unit. It's not many more, but enough to make the text and lines look right. Battery life is almost 3x even with the higher res screen and faster CPU. Probably thanks in large part to the new Sony GPSr.
But then screenshots of the 1030+ look pretty good on the maps page. I've only seen street maps, I'm guessing satellite imagery isn't as good.

So, it's a year plus since the 1030+ released.
Anyone have a guess on when the 1040/1040+ might release, maybe based on historical releases?
I'd suspect this fall / winter is not a good marketing plan for Garmin.
My 1000 battery gets to about 50% after a 40 mile ride. It's getting to be time to consider a replacement.

I was wondering the same thing about the Edge 530 / 540 as my 520 is not holding much of a battery life these days. Well that and I dropped the 520 and cracked the screen.

I'm not sure when the shortage of processors will get better, so it might be a long wait. If my battery was discharging quickly, I think I would see what garmin would do as far as repair.

Can you rig an Anker battery pack to re-charge the Garmin? Battery could go in saddle bag with cable run under the top tube, or duck taped to the stem, etc. Of course you only need that for rides over 60 miles right now.
