Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cage Color

First world problem here...can't decide on what color water bottle cages I should get with my new bike that's coming in this week. Should I get plain black, match the frame and get white, or add a bit of Swiss flair and go for red? I thought I'd let the Internetz decide. Here's a couple of pictures of my bike I found at a Japanese bike shop (best I could find).

If you go black, then you can change up the flair every ride with different color bottles and the black will never clash.

Raw stainless steel color. No color transfer to bottles from wear that way.

Never thought about changing bottle colors...too many options. My Camelback bottles now are black and grey.

Black. Here's a similarly color schemed bike I built several years ago for reference, although your BMC is much nicer!

That’s my vote too.

But OP needs to grow a pair and get what HE likes best.

These in White. The black accent I think would go with the bikes color scheme perfectly.TacX Deva

Bikes look better without cages and cables. Black is the least conspicuous color. So... all cages and cables should be black.

Hmm, the bike has an asymmetrical paint scheme: red on the right and black on the left. Maybe I should a red sock on my right foot and black on the left?

There are a couple different options of these Specialized Rib Cages that would work really well with your bike, not to mention, they are AMAZING at holding bottles:

Here's a fancy carbon/white/red version:

I have the white/red one on my Colnago, which would also work on yours:

As the poll reflects OP, black cages is probably your best option and won't subtract from the lines of the bike. Cool bike btw.

I saw a review of a GCN guy showing off his Madone and he had the following cages on the bike. I ordered a set for my new Cervelo from Asia and they are superb.
Uber light, nice shape, carbon and just the right amount of bottle clamping. Goldilocks. Can't beat the price of ordering them from Asia. Downside is shipping time of course.

Btw, this seller has low feedback so may want to steer clear. I got both cages for under $20 to my door. Took a while but worth it:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Carbon-B...3aa:rk:15:pf:0

This is pretty funny story. While I was waiting for the cages, Ebay put out a notice that they 'closed my seller down'. They said, don't do anything...you don't have to pay...I had. Their product may or may not arrive...eBay would cover any losses.

The cages arrived in perfect condition. I believe what is going on is...they closed this seller down because he is pirating Bontrager cages and selling them for a song. They look to be legit Bontrager cages and likely made in China or Taiwan. They are an excellent minimalist choice if you like light and right for a song. They sell for more than $20/ea if bought domestically.

Black. Because white will almost certainly not quite match the white of your frame, and that will drive you batschidt crazy after a few rides.
