Why not?

It either works or it doesn't.. I can’t be the first person to be curious ... as an aside the price seems nice on a carbon 46/36 crankset .

off hand I’m guessing it will probably work fine, but I would like the input of someone who has actually tried it out and what their experience is ..

I can't imagine why it wouldn't work.

The important specs, mainly chainline and chainring thickness, are pretty much the same between 11s rim brake drivetrains. I haven't tried this setup, but I have put Shimano 9s and 10s cranks with Campy 10s shifters, Campy 10s shifters with Shimano 10s front derailleurs, and I have a TA crankset with 10s rings on a Shimano 11 drivetrain. All worked acceptably. The latter shifts pretty well indeed, although not as well as 100% Shimano. Front shifting has markedly improved, so your proposed mix should have excellent front shifting.

Once we get to the hydraulic disc era, some cranksets have the chainline offset 2.5mm to the right (e.g. Shimano GRX, Campy H11 cranksets, not sure about SRAM but I have to imagine so). If you mix cranksets with the offset chainline with regular road front derailleurs, chances are good that it should work. For example, I've heard about some people using Shimano GRX cranksets with regular Shimano 11s road derailleurs (or one or two guys even used CX70 10s cyclocross front derailleurs). In your context, this would be if you put a Campy H11 crankset with Shimano 8000 or 7000.

In my specific case I was able to purchase a new take off 105 5800 groupset and am removing the well used Ultegra 6600 groupset. Based on what you and others have said I SHOULD be ok ... I am aware nothing is ever written in stone and there may be some problems .
