~60's Bottecchia
Found at a garage sale for $50. Paint is in good shape but the FD has snapped. I think I'm going to rehome it on Kijiji as it's a touch too small.
My instinct is that it's not anything special - no cotterless cranks, Campy Valentino, etc. Thinking about listing it for $100 and going from there.

That bike is in killer shape. A cottered crank is not necessarily a sign of a cheap bike in the 60s but agreed that this is likely a lower end Bottechia. It seems a shame to sell this to someone who will likely not appreciate it. Are those tipo hi flange hubs? You might find some value in the wheels, brakes, bar, and stem. I dunno if this is a part out candidate but it might be.

Not sure about the hubs, but here's some more detail shots of the moving parts that I have on-hand at the moment:

The combination of Union 40U pedals and Campag Nuovo Tipo hubs on the same machine is a bit odd. No doubt it is OEM.
The Carnielli marked stems seem to have some collector value - or at least so their vendors would wish one to think!

This bike is sweet. It is not much of a rider at this point but someone who likes old bikes would really enjoy getting this rideable again. This bike is largely unmolested and it will be easy to restore. I'd pitch it as a collector's special; someone in whichever part of Canada you are in will do right by this bike.

Looks like a post 1967 Bottecchia Special to me and a nice one, at that. I have owned a few, including this one that I picked up a week or two ago...
Lovely old bikes and not cheap, in my mind. Not at all exotic, or professional, or anything special but the Special is still one darn nice bike. Wish I had the cash to buy that one. Picked this one up at a yard sale, one day. Sadly, it was too small for me and I let it go...
I would guess that the OP's bike is a little older than any I have had. I am drooling at the cranks.

Thunder Bay, eh? It's yours if you ever come down London way...
Are the hubs/wheelset worth anything or are they just an interesting old piece?

Any value in wheels is in hub set.
If thinking of parting out might as well cut up wheels and discard rims.
WRT dating - the inner face of the axle locknuts on the hubs will be marked with a two digit number. This is the year of manufacture.

It is a Bottecchia Special but it should be no earlier than 1970, as the Campagnolo Valentino Extra rear derailleur was introduced in the autumn of 1969. These bicycles are real eye candy but often suffered from lack of quality control. The value is primarily in the mid-range Campagnolo Nuovo Tipo hubs.

If you stripped it down to the bare frame, soak all the parts in diesel fuel for a few weeks, wax & polish frame, re-assemble w/new cables, pads, chain, bar tape ........................ that would be a beautiful ride.

The color, chrome lugs, and name will help you here. Very pretty bike, and looks much higher end at first glance.
