Just got a pair of these, and mounted them up on my Ibis (primary winter bike) today:



They seem tougher than the standard GP 4000, hardier sidewalls, etc. Anybody have winter experience with these 700 x 23c tires?

I have only about 400 or 500 miles of experience with them. So far, so good.* Definitely heartier sidewalls than the GP 4000's they replaced, but not as heavy as Gatorskins. Seemed like a good compromise to me.

Good Choice. I love Conti tires.... ride them on my bike and my car.

i traditionally have used conti attack/force but have gone through 4 or 5 sets of the 4-seasons in the past.

they seem a little softer than the attack/force but are not as soft as the gp 4000 i currently ride (i have the ones with the black chili compound)

they are adequate for winter riding south of the mason-dixon line but i only get 2500 miles vs 3-4k for the a/f. puncture resistance is good. only one flat in 10k+ miles of riding. cornering traction is adequate on wet roads

I used them last winter (700Cx23); not a good indication as it was mostly in the rain, but they were very sticky, I noticed a difference immediately from the non-Black Chili GP4000's.

I remember Ziemas had a good deal of flatting last year with these; I did not, but I still switched over to GP4Ks.

The real comparison should be between these and the Black Chili GP4000 or GP4000S.

I've got about 1,000 miles on my 4 seasons, mounted on my winter Trek. Decent tire so far, had one flat from running over some chunk of metal in the curb lane. Otherwise, they seem durable.

I use 4-Seasons or Gatorskin tires on my rear wheel. Most of the time, I run it down to the cords without getting any flats. These tires are somewhat stiffer and less supple than most performance clinchers, so I usually run a Pro Race or GP 4000 on the front for better cornering. I've only flatted the front tire once in the last 20,000 miles.

I have 4 seasons 25's on my winter bike, done about 1800K so far, only one puncture from a flint on an audax in Nov in fowl weather, otherwise they seem pretty good.

You now have the best tire in the world. I would now recommend spokes.

I just put these on a couple of weeks ago (roughly 300 Mi). My first set of non-Vittoria tires in years. No flats yet

I was impressed with the ease of fit. I've long heard what a PITA Conties were to get on. No such issues.

Who does that? That's definitely a wuss move! Bare hands, sometimes feet, sometimes bloody, is the only way.

I'm sure now that the Fred Patrol has given their blessing to these stupid tires I'll get three flats next week.

Very tough on crappy roads. If you get a flat, I'll be really surprised.

They are also the best trainer tires I've ever used. No deposit on the trainer drum, minimal slip and practically no wear despite hours of trainer use (Kurt Kinetic Road Machine).

I picked up a set for next season, looking forward to using them, heard good things. No experience yet though.

Pretty stiff sidewalls compared to a supple race tire. I just took a Conti 4 Season off an old, stiff aluminum Klein I keep in California because the combo of the stiff sidewall on the Conti and the stiff, aluminum Klein rear triangle made the ride a little jarring. I am going to put it on the rear of an old steel Lemond bike I have though, and it will be just fine. The 4 Season is very flat resistant. On another note, I think the regular Conti 4000 and 4000s are very flat resistant as well, though not as much protection in the sidewalls.

I have had good results with mine. Competent handling, decent ride and no flats. I should have bought an extra set when PBK had them in stock, as I recently noticed the pair I have are in worse shape than I had remembered.

Man up! I always use my lips to get that last bit over the rim. I also use my nostril instead of a spanner when fixing a flat on my fixie. I like to keep my facial muscles in good form.

I found that if you remain humble during no flat periods, your luck may sustain. Once you start feeling proud, smug and start to boast about it (or even express happiness) you can expect a flat.

Something tells me I've cursed myself by writing this. However, that I say this I may have avoided it as I never get a flat when I say I might get a flat. Only when I think I may get a flat but cannot prove that I thought or sensed that I might beforehand

Then when I get the feared flat I am reminded it's no big F-ing deal.

They are my favorite winter tire, beefy tread and sidewalls. Don't know why they call them 4 Season though, should be 1 season and use lighter more supple tires the other 3.
