Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Half finger gloves w/o padding?

I'm looking for half finger gloves with little or no padding on the palm.

I asked this in the cx forum and got suggestions for weight lifter or football gloves but that's it. The only half finger non-padded gloves I know of are Pearl Izumi Pittard gloves but they're $40.

Anyone know of any other non-padded half finger gloves?

I used weightlifting gloves my first few years of cycling and they worked all right.

Specialized BG sport ($25). I use them and love them. Also performance terry gloves can be had for like $10 but are not as nice as the specialized. I have both of them.

I looked those up and the description said "plush" padding. I'm looking for little to no padding. Is plush not the right word to describe 'em?

I too like gloves with very little padding. The specialized gloves had more than I would have liked when looking at them in the store but I got them anyway and the padding flattened after about a week or so. I don't remember which model gloves I got, "pro" maybe?

Those knogs look nice, I think I looked at them online before.

Edit: Oh yeah, I had the Pittard gloves, they were way more padded than the Specialized gloves. The best gloves I've used were the PI White Line gloves but they stopped making them and I used them until they literally fell apart.

I meant the pittard octane, they don't have any padding. But $40...

I'll check out the specialized. Those knog gloves are a little too cute for me with the knuckle words.

Fox Racing make a range of gloves with very little padding. Some of them may have thick protective layers on the back but the palms are not padded.

I have a set I wanted to try them out first before buying a 'good' set. I liked them enough that I'd buy them again. Though I think I need a little more padding on my next set of gloves because of how my bars are shaped.

Hm, that makes me wonder if I would have liked my ritchey anatomic bars more if I was wearing gloves with padding.

Just buy cheap gloves- If they have padding it will not be much

I changed over to road from MTB and had a problem with gloves. All of my MTB gloves have NO padding and I needed it.

I have a pair of Pearl Izumi glove I found at the PI outlet without padding. I think they're called "Race Lite". I've never seen them in the LBS, only at the outlet.

how about some wool ones?

i just got some of these, except they have a flip-over mit - and mine just have a thin leather patch on the palm, which you could probably remove.

They have pretty much no padding. The palm is a little fluffy for the ulnar nerve but like stated it flattens out. And thats all it has.

I have had the sport, comps, and pro's. They increase in padding as you go to the comp and the pros had so much padding i couldnt grip the bar. Most likely you have the sport.

If you like cheap and no padding then the performance terry gloves for $10 are going to be the cheapest. What size glove are you? I have an extra pair I never used you can have for postage if they fit. They are not nearly as nice as specialized though.

I was just in a shop (this evening, after I posted), and they had my gloves. I looked and they are the "gel" model. Despite the name there isn't much padding. I would prefer none, but these don't bother me...

The Performance Classic gloves have very little padding. On sale now for $9.99.

I like these... Same padding as above but you can wipe your runny nose on the terry cloth. The padding is thin, flexible, and doesn't bunch up. And they are cheap! Bought them on a whim since they were so cheap and they turn out to be more comfortable then the Specialized, Pearl Izumi, and Castelli gloves I've tried in the past.

These have worked extremely well for me. Very comfortable and durable. No padding either.
