is the rear cluster something you made? i brought a 3 speed cluster but this reads like you assembled one. that might come in handy.

the wheel i used had a freehub, and i was originally thinking about a single speed so i bought a kit that had spacers and a cog, but i decided to go with a 3 speed setup to give myself more leeway on hills, so i got some more spacers and installed 18, 16 and 12 tooth cogs spaced to the outside for chainline purposes, with a 38t chainring. i'm using a handlebar mounted friction thumb shifter.

Wow,...I luv it. Too bad my build had a cracked head tube and was un-weldable. (7005 aluminum,...)

Newest build just for fun

84 Schwinn world sport chromeally slammed on to 26' with a coaster brake, 39 campy front on a 107 Shimano sealed bottom bracket (to help with chain line) with a 18 on the rear hub. High bars wraped from bottom up so there's no loose end to tape. This thing is light weight responsive and a real joy to ride. Built it for a friend but haven't been able to give it up yet...it now has my fav saddle and platform pedals on it (not pictured) until i feel like i gotta give it up

My Beach Cruiser

This is my inherited Schwinn Beach Cruiser. It belonged to my uncle in the early '90s and got passed around to his kids for 20 years and very neglected in the process. It looks good from the 10 foot line, but when you look closer it becomes apparent that it's a little roached and sweaty around the edges . When I received it the headset bearings were shot and there was grease residue for lubrication.. Residue from when it was new! I dissembled it, repacked all the surviving bearings, replaced headset, the solid fork with a Sunlite reproduction springer, replaced the rear freewheel ( Sorry I draw the line at rebuilding something that intricate), added sunlite cruiser fenders a proper brooks B66 saddle. It serves as my run about the neighborhood, Beer social ride bike

Dam SurlySteve, it wasn't for the car in the background, I would have thought that it was 1963 and these were Kodachrome slides that you recently converted to digital. That is amazing right down to the rivets on the fender stays.

How much is original and how much has been restored? The seat looks to have been restored. The frame and fenders, I don't know. The stem looks original and there is no pitting or discoloration.

It looks great, regardless. Enjoy it.

I still haven't gotten around to taking a photo of my two-tone blue Cruiser Deluxe, so I'll cop out and use an image I found online. The white striping on the seat is the only thing different about the bike in the photo. I removed my rear rack in 1995, and never put it back on. I've put a lot of miles on it, and the installation of a Shimano Nexus internal (7 gear) hub about a decade ago made it so much more enjoyable to ride on the hills on the local creek trail.

A little homage to my Schwinn Jaguar bought new in 2007. My wife couldn't see me having 3 bikes in the garage, so I donated it away yesterday.

For a cheap department store bicycle, it treated me very well. First pic from 2007. Second pic from 2018.

Cool

Came across this image online recently. I've never owned a Phantom, and not sure I ever will decide that I need one, but it makes me fantasize about modifying my blue 90's Cruiser Deluxe, as this person apparently did:
