Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

FTR, the frameset isn't a classic. It just looks like one..

Dia-compe shifters?

Nice seatpost though
Lmfao now I have heard it all! So a Cinelli SC isn’t a classic frame now? Now I know you’re trolling for sure.

It's a classically styled frameset, but what year was the frame built?

My short leg geometry will probably put a few people off, but i love the new road bike.

Unsure at this stage if i want to remove the wheel decals.

The stack o' spacers is more likely to get comments.

Nice bike though.

The head tube looks a little bulky, for a smaller bike.

yeah, i might remove some spacers. Still dialing it in.

I have 2 blown discs. Im lucky that i can even still ride pain free, so ill forgo looks enough for now (understand this is the hot or not thread haha)

re: head tube:

OverDrive

Giant’s original oversized fork steerer tube technology. Designed to provide precise front-end steering performance, the system’s oversized headset bearings (1 1/4” lower and 1 1/8” upper for road, 1 1/2” lower and 1 1/8” upper for mountain) and tapered steerer tube work in conjunction to provide optimal steering stiffness.

Do whatever you have to do to keep riding. I herniated L4, L5, and S1 in 2004, and broke C1 + C2 in 2010. With time your position might get more aggressive looking, but don't worry about how it looks to others

Many bikes use a tapered steerers/head tubes without looking that bulky.

Giant is a great company with a lot of cool innovation, but I'm not a fan of Overdrive. BTW, those quoted dimensions look wrong to me - it's non standard, and those numbers are pretty standard. I thought all Overdrive forks were 5/4" upper.

Stiffness to weight of a straight 9/8" steerer is pretty good, and with a 5/4" or 3/2" lower it's plenty. Include aero in the consideration, and it starts looking a bit silly; IMO it's just an excuse to lock folks into using proprietary forks and stems.

Overdrive is 1 1/8" steerer. Overdrive 2 is 1 1/4" steerer.

With an ugly crank, hubs and brake calipers. Changing those would go a long ways.

Almost 12 months have gone by since I matt-cleared this mid-80s Casati frameset after having some brazing work done. I left it paint-free because the joinery deets are beautiful. The finish is holding up amazingly well.

Thanks for the tip. I use Bleche White on tires often, and now will use it on my bar tape. Just to clarify, is the wet terry cloth you start and finish with only wet with water?

Hot! Since that is clear/metal, does it kind of take on the color of the background? Change like a Chameleon? It has a green tint in this pic, at least to me. Somewhat similar to this color with the green background.

Correct, I try and get what grime I can off first with plain water on a terry towel, and then finish with plain water, really just to get the Bleche White off...technically I don't think you are supposed to touch it (I think the bottle says wear gloves), so I try to wash it off as best as I can afterwards.

1991 Schwinn 354, the only thing here that is original is the frame.

So let me know your thoughts on this beauty (in my eyes). Shimano R7000 groupset, Mavic Cosmic Elite Wheelset and many carbon bits. Its a fast ride that likes hills![img][/img]

My "new" ride.

Hot. Definitely stands out from the matte black crowd. Maybe go with black or white bar tape. The blue is close, but no cigar.

Hah, you've got the Toseek Aeronova rip-off. I have three, incredible value.

Did you try to break them before fitment? They don't test them...

Oh yeah - hot, if you go black tape.
