Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Slooooooow.

I don't know if it's just the road forums(I really don't care about the others), but has BF been running HORRIBLY slow at certain times of the day? My connection is fine and dandy, but around 12 or so, then 4ish page loading gets pretty sporadic(7 minute load times). While I wait for the BF page to load, I visit other sites without a hitch. I will time how long it takes for this thread to post.

Note: The code for the face I put in this post has yet to appear. We'll see if it loaded. (I lost patience waiting to see if it did.)

I had heard this complaint from a couple of friends in the past and then when we made ther server change it got a lot better....but recently page loads have been taking forever even on a high speed connection.

So yes it is REALLY slow lately.

Yup. When I posted the thread, I got a database error and couldn't get on to ANY BF for about 10 mins.

It may have been the Natty Fab thread on SS/FG. It was attracting an unbelievable amount of traffic.

You guys aren't keeping your cadence up, are you? Practice spinning as fast as you can without bouncing, try to keep it nice and smooth.

Either that or "Flip It" and remove any unnecessary decals.

Either of those should speed things up for you a lot.

I was wondering how they run all of their bandwidth for less than $500 a month. Another forum that I grace with my presence pays around $60,000/month for their bandwidth usage.

I can't figure out how to pony up. Everytime I click on the link to support the BF it just brings me to my control panel. And from there I don't see any relevant links to sign up. Any body else experience this?

crackerjab - send a PM to one of the Mods. They can help you get to where you need to be. Or give you an address that you can send money in along with your user-name to get setup that way.

I think you all need to head out and read the other forums.

We currently have threads in the Forum Assistance forum. There's a thread that says something like "So you want to donate, but you can't get the paypal page". It's here: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=170586

So... if you want to donate, follow that link.

As far as the slowness of the pages, the server is nearly at full capacity. Apparently, there is a new server, but Joe is working out the bugs. He's hired a couple of guys to handle it, and he really does think the forum will be ready to move to the new server soon. He just doesn't want to chance moving the forum now, and then lose all the information if the new server fails. No one wants to see that happen. So let's be patient while Joe works to fix the problems.

In the meantime, on your end, make sure your temporary internet file is emptied and your extra cookies are deleted. That will make things a little faster.

Thanks!

Koffee B.
