Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Another Gorgeous Fall Day!!

I'm loving this weather!! Sunny and 19C (66F) degrees today ... in the middle of October!!

And yes ... yet another ride today. I've ridden further this month already than I did in the entire month of October the last 3 years.

2 weeks ago I rode in a rainstorm in the mountains at around 40f. This was after a week of temps around 100. Last Sunday at 3:00 a.m. we were evacuated due to a brush fire that destroyed a house near here and couldn't return home for 3 days. Very windy during that time, then it got hot again.
Tomorrow it's supposed to be around 80 and nice and I'm looking forward to a nice ride.

Gotta love fall weather ... -6C this morning, still quite chilly at noon ...... and all the way up to +17 by the time I got off work.

Beautiful ride this evening.

We have been having some really nice fall days here but the winds have been killer... they usually wind down at the end of my work day which has me outside and riding my bike.

Yesterday we had gusts up to nearly 70kmh.

Its been really windy here lately.... well only when I decide I want to go on a long ride haha. I've been comming back with a nice layer od sand/dust stuck to my skin with my sweat as the adhesive. I like the big gusts that pick up sand and blast you with it haha its all fun though.

No kidding!! I was up there on Tuesday and again today, and it was howling both days.

Down here in Central Alberta it hasn't been quite as bad ... and this evening was lovely. A bit of wind, but sunny and +12 degrees.

Machka - I actually decided to ride the geared bike today since I have had way too many days of 50 km plus winds which get amped when they come screaming down 101st Street... they have been enough to nearly take me off my bike and made my 40-60 km a day feel like 100.

we've had snow already, but no accumulations. Today it was about 48 and clear at cross practice.

I'm still astounded by this fall's weather ... +18 degrees today, and the wind has gone. It's like summer!!

And yet we had snow in the Philly 'burbs today. Go figure. Especially since the first half of this month was dry, sunny, and lots of days in the 70's.

Our leaves are mostly down ... but our temps are still lovely.

My father and I are still getting out for evening rides regularly ... and that's quite unusual for this time of year!!
