Not keen on the cards either and that style of frame has never appealed to me. It looks heavy, contrived and just....strange.

It shows support when there is an active community with engaging ride organizers. A few years ago when Midnightridazz out here was over the top crazy fun I ran out of space on my wheels for spoke cards

cards are from alleycats. And heavy? 16.9 pounds does not constitute as heavy to me.
