Cannondale serial number mystery
A few months back I purchased (what I think is) a Cannondale Synapse 6. I was trying to do some research on when it was made and sent the serial number info to Cannondale who informed me that number identified it as a 2016 Supersix Evo ?
It clearly states Synapse 6 on the graphics so I’m confused??? Anyone ever heard of mistakes being made with such serial numbers being placed on wrong model? Fake Cannondale?

Maybe Cannondale recycles serial numbers. That seatpost clamp was only used on the first iteration of the Synapse - 2009-2012. And those wheels were definitely not stock ever.

Does not look like a 2016 Synapse or Super 6 EVO.
Link to a 2016 catalogue.

What year is it supposed to be? What components are on it. The model numbers. That will narrow it down. Also The serial number sticker looks funny. Not flat and smooth for a shiny bike. Wonder if it an older NOS frame being presented as a newer bike.

It's definitely not a SuperSix Evo. The brake cable routing is different.
It looks like a 2010-2012 Synapse 6 Carbon, based on the photos I can find online.

I can't find an image with that exact paint job and graphics. The seat post and clamp has definitely changed over time. 2013 and newer look different.

I may have found a possibility here..... I spoke with a reputable Cannondale dealer who said it might be a crash replacement frame. He explained that the original frame could have been a Supersix as the serial numbers suggest but a Synapse 6 may have been offered as a replacement with Cannondale reattaching the original serial number info thus making it come up as a Supersix
Thoughts ?

The bike in your photos is older than a 2016 model. It's likely a 2012 or 2013. I suppose it's possible that a dealer replaced a 2016 Supersix frame with Synapse frame that was 3+ years old, but Cannondale changing the serial number in this case doesn't make sense to me.
Just to be clear, the serial number is the one with the bar code. I feel like it wouldn't look as clean as the one in your photo if it had been peeled off a different bike and stuck on there.

Just received an email from Cannondale stating there was a production error with the serial number but it is a 2010 Carbon Synapse 6.
