I'm Type 2, and going too low isn't much of a risk for me. But I do keep a couple of Clif Bars in my handlebar bag in case I spontaneously go on a long ride. Not that I have, but I could.

I have some incredible wildlife and some great views of Lake Superior but I find the most motivating is passing a young kid on a bike with their parent(s). The smile they get when you compliment them and their bike.

Saw a guy last night riding a unicycle. What made me do a double take is that it had fully cabled disk brakes. Hope he doesn't have to use those too often...
