Maybe it's the always widening delta between expectation (really cold, continually rainy, if some snow) and reality (a backwards fall/winter) year after year, or...something else. It continues to not feel like Christmas or Christmas time this year, like last year...and I don't get it. I don't want anything, I don't need anything--my proverbial cup runneth over, as always (in so many areas, and I am extremely thankful!). I do want to and plan to see family. Niece and nephew and brothers and sisters and parents. That will be and is always worthwhile.
Merry Christmas to all, regardless!

We do a walk-in-if-you-want breakfast buffet for friends and neighbors on Christmas Eve morning. We chase them all out by 10 AM so we can do all of the stuff that we should have done earlier. It takes a lot of preparation, but we enjoy it. Since my wife is primary cook, I am primary dish washer. That's usually done by noon. Happy holidays Ben.

Bringing this back to cycling, I hope I can get in a ride before accepting my elder son's invitation to watch the grandsons open their presents. My wife has been taking ballet lessons for more than 50 years, and yesterday we took the 4-year-old to a "Nutcracker" performance put on by the ballet school she currently attends. I think he enjoyed it, even though he told us ahead of time that he hoped the mice would win this time.

Yep, a nice 1-hr indoor ride, a nap. Then some nice cabernet ("leave the bottle, garcon"), swordfish and lobster ravioli, creme brule, then "Wicked " off - Broadway at The Fabulous Fox while having some decent coffee. 8 hours of sleep and a 3-hr ride and Smokehouse brisket. Don't deserve it, but Merry Christmas to me. Maybe some Hannukah sweets in the next few days.

xiaoman1 Thank you Ben and Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to everyone else too! Christmas will be relaxed and joyous this year since we decided to take it easy. This will be my son's first Christmas and his older sisters and parents are grateful for that. Christmas Eve is when all the hoopla will take place at another family member's abode.

Enjoy the family...as I have said before time winds up faster than a hard right on a fast downhill. Best, Ben
