Anyone going to the Tour de Donut in either Michigan or Ohio?

My wife and I just signed up for the Sept 10th 2016 Tour de Donut in Arcanum, OH. It looks like a great deal of fun.

I did notice the thread from last year but wonder if anyone is planning on attending either the Ohio event or the one the following weekend in Greenville Michigan this year? (We actually live two miles from the starting location here in Michigan).

We are signed up for the Mini-Donut 16 mile event, should not be too strenuous as we have been doing a local 13 mile ride 5 days a week (we drive to nearby cycling locations on weekends) for the last couple of months.

This event sounds fun and silly (hope I can keep up with the 3 year old group).

If you can already ride 13 miles, push yourself! Those rides tend to be easier than you think, and with all the support and donuts, you won't run out of energy.

I rode the Tour de Donut here in Houston a couple years ago. It's a 37 mile course here, with two donut/rest stops. Not sure if it works the same in Michigan and Ohio, but riders here had 5 minutes deducted from their official time for very donut eaten. The winner's adjusted time was about 10 minutes.

Thankfully, I was nowhere near that "fast".

I've been working on my son to come do the mini in Ohio with me, but I haven't been successful so far. The distance is a little bit of a stretch for him, but he's done nearly that much before. If I can't convince him, I might do the full or the double d challenge by myself. It sounds like so much fun!

We (my wife and I) are very much looking forward to it. Not sure which is more fun, the thought of riding in the Tour de Donut or telling people that we are going to ride in the Tour de Donut and watching the expression on their faces

I'm doing the one in Ohio. 32 mile route because my son has a football game that afternoon in Indiana and I'm the coach, otherwise I'd do the 64 miler. Doing it with 4-5 other guys who i ride with regularly. Should be a blast.

I did it again this year. I was out of the country on business and nearly missed it but was able to get the meetings bumped up a day so I could fly home the night before the ride. I'll work up a ride report and post it in a separate thread.
