Here is Tim, center in the blue/white helmet, smiling, while we're waiting for the train in Oceanside after our May 2016 Pizza Port ride. He's between @tunavic and @DrIsotope.

Was that the ride where tunavic left his phone sitting on the station platform? ahultin picked it up for him when he drove back home...

We USED to start at ARTIC, ride down SART and then down PCH to get to Oceanside but vic has a superior route now that goes inland. A little hillier but less lunacy on PCH, which is a positive thing. Instead of ARTIC I usually start at Anaheim Canyon for those and ride inland to gypsum canyon.

I've been hoping and praying, though I don't pray much, for this post to never arrive ... knowing full well it would.

I only knew him through the forum, never had the pleasure to suffer on the roads with him, but this saddens me profoundly. Had I known this earlier I would have done today's ride in his honor, but life kept me away from the forum most of yesterday and all of today until now.

This is insanely unfair and I loathe cancer with a white hot passion.

May we all face our end of days with as much grace, and peace, and surrounded by love as he did.

Rest easy PJ ...

If you put together a memorial ride, see if you can figure a way to add a virtual portion (PJ memorial ride on Zwift?).

That is a great idea. I would love to do that on top of a real life ride.

For IRL, the route I just did for the Paul Hulse Century is pretty nice (Santa Clarita to Ventura and back).

I met some friends for dinner last night, and they brought some friends. They all go to the same church as Photo Joe.

There will I’ll be a memorial service June 1 at 7pm. If any of y’all in SoCal are interested in attending, I can get details.

Bikeforums has some of the best and most admirable human beings we could "meet". PhotoJoe seems to be one, even though I don't know him (do remember having seen his cute avatar in the past). People like him and Tom are great inspirations. He has now joined Tom and other fellow members who left us too soon. Hope they are enjoying riding together again.

Oh, I never knew PhotoJoe personally like many of you but only through this forum, he seemed like a great guy. I'm so sorry to hear of his recent passing, I'd just like to pass my condolences to his family and hope he can finally rest in peace.
God bless you all!

That was one of my best rides, ever.

I met people that I am still connected with at ZWIFT.

TrojanHorse and BeachGrad are burning the tarmac st Watopia and London.

way to go!

He finally threw his hands in the air and decided that he'd rather spend his last days in possession of his senses and with his family (in case it's not obvious, chemo is really hard on people). I can vouch for the effectiveness, I visited him a few weeks ago after he had moved back home and he was in great spirits and doing well.

Unfortunately, Cancer got the better of him today.

You know, it's weird - when you're a kid you make friends left and right but as you get older it gets harder and less frequent and I'm happy to report that I've made a few good ones through this very board and Tim was one of them.

Rest in peace, my friend.
He was a good man. Even after my first, and only GMR, we stayed in touch.

Sad news and tremendous loss to the community.

RIP my friend.

My oldest is battling breast cancer. She is OK now, but the specter of a return is always there.

PhotoJoe and PhotoJoanne at the Wounded Warrior ride in 2016. Tim organized up a bunch of volunteers to help marshall the ride. I did it twice, I think he did it 4 times.
